WATER-BASIN STOPPLE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that SAMUEL G. (iinmzsrin, a citizen of the, United States, residing at (harlestom in the county of Knnawhn and State of Vest Virginia, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in lValer-lhvsin Stopples, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a stopple par ticularly applicable to the outlets or drains of plumbing fixtures such as wash basins.

One general aim is to provide the siopple of metal so as to be free from interstices like rubber, especially after continued use which clog with foreign matter and become unsanitary, and so as to be at all times capable of cleaning for sanitation.

Another object is to provide the specific construction hereinafter described, especially having novel manipulation and fastoning means.

In the accompanying drawings illustrating the present preferred embodiment;

Figure 1 is a vertical section through the improvements and an outlet member with which it is associated; Fig. 2 is a side elevation at a rightangle to Fig. 1 of the improved device; Fig. 3 is a bottom view of the parts of Fig. 1; and Fig. 4 is a Crosssectional view on the line 4 of Fig. 2.

Referring specifically to the drawings, a water outlet pipe member of usual form for stationary basins is shown at A having. a flange B to overlap the basin, an inlet C for overflow water and a cross guard or trap bars 1). Disclosure of this part will facilitate an understanding of the improvements.

The improvements constitute two parts, namely a stopple E and a fastening- F therefor. Said stopple E is of suitable metal, having a disk 5, preferably thin, to rest on the flange B and form a water seal therewith, and an annular wall 6 integral with or separate from the disk as desired and clepending therefrom.

Fastening F is preferablv made in a single strand of flexible metallic wire intermediate its ends being formed into a fingcn or manipulating loop 7, and into side arm 8 which extend through and are soldered or otherwise fastened to the disk 5.
