MoIsrENnitl Application filed June 14, 1913. Serial No. 239,984.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DAVID zen of the United States, residing at Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of. Ohio, have invented new and useful Im rovements in Moisteners, of which the fol owing is a specification.
Persons whose callin or profession requires the counting of s eets, cards, tickets or the like, and who are so situated that a sponge cup or such like device is not available for moistening the thumb or forefinger to cause an adhesion therebetween and the 7 sheets being counted, not infrequently re sort to the unclean and unsanitary method of placing their thumb or finger in their mouths to moisten the same.
It is the purpose of the present invention to produce a simple contrivance which may be readily secured upon the clothing of the user whereby moisture maybe applied to the thumb or finger by simply drawing the finger or thumb over the face of the device.
It is a further object of the invention to produce a moistener in the nature of a ho]- low casing having an 0 ening on the outer Y face thereof the wall 0 which being flared ing-the application of the improvement.
Fig. 2 is a substantially vertical longitudlnal sectional .view through the same.
Fig. 3 is a'transverse sectionaliview' approximately on the.1ine33 of Fig. 2.
The device is primarily adapted for use by railway conductors. The improvement,
. -however,is not to be restricted'in use in this ,quiring the countin particular, as the same will be found efiec t1ve'1n any class of profession or labor re and especially so w en the person -making such counts performs his duty'in a pIa-ceor WELSH a citiof tickets or sheets,
at a location where an ordinary sponge-cup cannot be conveniently used.
The device comprises a substantially rectangular hollow casing 5, the upper and outer corner of'which being rounded as at 6. The outer face of the casing is provided f,
with a round opening and the wall surround ing the opening is. flared inwardly, as at 7. Through the openin is inserted a sponge 8, and water-may be elivered-to the sponge through the opening. Preferably, however, I'provide the top of the casing with an aperture 9 and through this aperture water is 'delivered to moisten the sponge.
or c
s ecscajaeitirecipient; seas-tee oet. 1, 1918.
On the back of the casing is arranged-a v loop 10 through which the plate of the conductor is passed, but it is to be understood, and it is also illustrated by the dotted lines in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawing, that in lieu of theloop a spring catch or pinmay be employed. This permits of the device being attached to any desired portion of the clothing of the user. From the foregoing description it is believed the simplicity and advantages of the construction will be apparent. merely .draws his finger orthumb over the The user.
outer faceof the casing ina lineowith the opening therein. 5 The finger contacts with the sponge'or other absorbent element and is moistened. The finger travels freely over the round upper corner 'of the casing,
and tickets or similar articles may bereadily I counted without resorting to the unsanitary I claim is:
1 A finger moistener tened sponge in the casing.
2. A finger moistenmg' method of placing the finger or thumb in the mouth of the counten; '1 3 I Having thus described the invention, what adapted to be at- "tached'to the person of the user, comprisinga closedhollow, casing having an opening in the outer face thereof, an inwardly flared wall surrounding the ripening, and a moisv V 7 device adapted to I be attached tojthe clothing of the user, comprisingf a closed substantially rectangular, :hollow casing, the upperandouter corner of whicli being'rounded, theouter faceofthe a 1 icasing ihaving v an. opening, an inwardly; flared wall surrounding the opening and an absorbent element in the casing.
