Specification of Letters Patent.

To allwhom izimay concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH C. Morr, a citizen of the United States, and residing at Great Neck, Long Island, in the county of Nassau and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inTrick-Cards, ofwhich-thefollowing is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to trick cards, and the object thereof is to provide a device of this class which may be used to entertain or amuse, and which may also be employed as an advertising medium, and with this and other objects in view, the invention consists in a device of the class specified, constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention is fully dlsclosed in the following specification of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in whichthe separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a face view of a card involving my invention ;Fig. 2 a back view thereof on a reduced scale ;Fig. 3 a back view of a blank for producing a modified form of my improved trick card, and showing a movable card employed, and ;Fig. 4 a back view of a modified form of card complete.

In the practice of my invention, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, I provide a card a which is of the usual form, and the face of which is provided with a picture or figure b, which in the construction shown, represents a young woman, provided with a body garment 5 and a skirt 6 The central body or waist part c of the figure consists of a separate piece or card which is oblong in form and the opposite side edges of which are curved, as indicated by the full lines 0 and dotted lines 0 in Fig. 2, and the lower end of which is provided with a thumb and finger piece 0*, and at one side edge with a projecting member a, and this card 0 is passed through trans verse apertures (Z, indicated by full and dotted lines in Fig. 2, and forming a central transverse restraining strip at out of the material of the card a. Of course, the exact form of the transverse restrainingstrip (Z which holds the movable card member a in position, need not necessarily be of the shape shown, in Fig. -2,-but may be of the shape ind cated ;by,the lines a in Fig. 1. With th s construction, by holding thecard ainpne hand and taking hold of the thumb and' ng fpieoe .0? of ;the card a with the other hand, and moving said strip longitudinally of-the .card, and at the same time moving the lower end thereof laterally in opposlte directions, the central body or waist part 0 of the figure, consisting of the card 0 shown in Fig. 2, may be given a combmed longitudinal and lateral undulating movement. In this operation, the longitudinal movement of the part 0 is very slight, but the lateral undulating movement is considerable.

In the construction shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the card a is provided with a folding back member a adapted to be folded on the dotted line a, and at its free end the card a is provided with extensions e having slots 6'' which range longitudinally of the card, and the folding back member a is provided at its free end with laterally directed tongues f adapted to be passed through the slots 6 and centrally of said end the folding back member is provided with a transverse aperture 9 through which the thumb and finger piece 0* of the card member 0 is passed, and the form of the aperture 9 is such as to permit of a free movement of the thumb and finger piece a in the operation of the card member 0, as hereinbefore described.

The object of the back member a for the card a is to provide means whereby the movable card member 0 will be protected, or covered and concealed, without interfering with the movement or operation thereof, and other changes in and modifications of the construction described may be made, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A card of the class described provided on one side with a picture the central portion of which consists of a separate part passed through transverse slits formed in the card and the ends of which are at the back of the card, said central part being capable of a combined longitudinal and lateral undulating movement.
