To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMEs SMITH, J12, a citizen of the United States, residing at Phillipsburg, in the county of lVarren and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shaving- Bru'sh Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

It is an object of this invention to provide a new and novel device to be attached to a handle of the shaving brush whereby the disagreeable and unsanitary operation of rubbing in the lather with the fingers is entirely eliminated.

Another object is to provide a device of this class which is adapted to various convenient adjusted positions with relation to the handle of the brush, and to provide means in connection merewitn to hold the device in a predetermined adjusted position.

A still further object is the provision of a device of this class which may be easily cleaned and maintained in a sanitary condition.

WVith these and other objects in View, the

invention consists of the construction and combination of the various parts as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the appended claims.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation of a shaving brush showing my device applied thereto and held in inoperative position.

Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the shaving brush showing my device applied thereto and swung downwardly to an operative position.

Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the rub in attachment.

Fig. 1 is a plan View of a modified form of my device designed to be applied to an ordinary brush handle.

Fig. 5 is a perspective of one of the clamping members used in the modified form of my device.

The preferred embodiment of my invention consists of a pair of spring arms 1 and 2 adapted for movable engagement, through the medium of their inner enlarged ends 3 and 4:, with the handle of a shaving brush 5. A circular member 6 having suitably secured therein a rubber disk 7 provided with projections 8 is carried by the outer ends 9 and 10 of the arms 1 and 2 for a purpose which will, hereinafter appear.

As shown to advantage in Fig. 2, the

inner ends 3 and a of the arms 1 and 2 are provided with pins 11 and 12, respectively,

the device is adapted to be moved to predetermined positions with respect to the brush. The inner ends 3 and 1 of the arms 1 and 2 are further each provided with a projection 15 adapted, by means of the spring action of the arms 1 and 2, to be held in engagement with depressions 16 disposed around the apertures 13 and 14 of the brush handle 5. It will be apparent that by moving the device on the pins 11 and 12, that the projections 15 will be caused to engage one of the depressions 16 and be held therein by the spring action of the arms 1 and 2, thus providing means whereby the device may be held in predetermined positions with relation to the brush handle. By referring to Fig. 2, it is evident, that in this case three positions with relation to the brush may be obtained, but it is apparent that other adjustments would be possible by providing additional depressions in the brush handle.

In operation the device is moved to the desired position and the member 6 is applied to the face and the lather, which has previously been applied by the brush, is rubbed thoroughly and effectively into the beard by the action of the projections 8 on the rubber disc 7 carried by the member 6.

In Figs. 1 and 5 is illustrated a modified form of my device designed to provide means by which my device may be applied to an ordinary shaving brush. The modification comprises a pair of semi-circular clamping members 17 and 18 provided with lugs 19 and 20 through which screws 21 and 22 are adapted to pass and be tightened to clamp the members 17 and 18 securely around the brush handle. A flattened portion 23 is provided in the clamping member to which is secured in the same manner as in the preferred form of my device, the arms 1 and 2.

It is to be understood that I do not claim the exact construction shown herein but reserve the right to make such changes and alterations as will not depart from the spirit and scope of the claims.

1. In combination with a handle, a clamp secured to said handle, arms connected to said clamp on opposite sides of said handle, a rubbing element supported by said arms, and means on said arms to cooperate with said clamp to retain the arms in adjusted position.

2. A massage attachment for a shaving brush handle including a support engaged With said handle, a pair of oppositely disposed spring arms, pins on the inner ends of the arms for pivotal engagement with the handle, whereby said arms may be adjusted with respect to said handle, and a rubbing element carried by outer ends of said arms.

3. An attachment for a shaving brush handle including a support engaged with said handle, a pair of oppositely disposed spring arms, pins carried by the inner ends of said arms for pivotal engagement with said support, 13101801310118 formed on the inner end of said arms and adapted to engage a plurality of depressions formed in said support and a massaging element carried by the outer ends of said arms.

i. A massage device comprising a handle, spaced spring arms pivotally connected with the opposite sides of said handle, and a massage element supported between the free ends of said arms.
