GEORGE J. DICKINSON, on NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
' BLOTTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
f Patented Sept; 3, 1918.
Application filed August 23, 1917. Serial No. 187,914.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, GEORGE J DICKINSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Blotters; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application,
material may be readily attached and de- 7 tached, and which is conveniently secured upon the wrist in convenient position for the use by accountants and others working with pen and ink whichrequire the freofv a blotter, and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly J recited in the claim. i p
In carrying out my invention I employ a strap 3' of flexible material, such, for intheends: i and 5 of the strap being narrower than-the central por- Oopies of this patent may be obtained for tion, and one end being provided with a buckle 6 and the other end with perforations 7 whereby the ends of the straps may be connected together around theiwrist. It is obvious, however,'that any of the well known means for connecting the ends of the strap may be employed. At the ends of the central portion of the strap I form slots 8 and 9 to receive tongues 10 and 11 formed at the opposite ends of a strip 12 of blotting paper or other suitable absorbent material, the central portion of which cor responds to the'central portion of the strap 3' so as to practically cover it. The tongues 10 and 11 of blotting material are passed through the slots 8 and 9 so that the absorbent" material covers the outer face of the central portion of the strap and the tongues extend along the inner surfaces of the ends of the strap. The device is then secured to the wrist and is therefore in constant position for use, leaving the fingers of the penman free. required, the absorbent strip may be readily removed and replaced by a fresh one.
I claim i A blotter comprising a strap having a wide, central portion and narrow ends, means for connecting the said endstogether' the central portion, combined with a strip of absorbent material thecentral portion of. Y
which corresponds substantially to the central portionof the strap and formed at each end with a longinarrow tongue adapted to be inserted through the slots in the strap and extending along the inner surfaces thereof. i i I A GEORGE J. DICKINSON.
