WALTER P. BAUMAN', OF ELLOAM, MONTANA.
BABY-CARRIAGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 3, 1918.
Application filed June 15, 1917. Serial No. 175,022.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WVALTER P. BAUMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elloam, in the county of Blaine and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Baby-Carriages, of
- which the following is a specification.
This invention is a baby carriage and has for its principal object the production of efficient means for detachably retaining the body upon the supporting frame.
Another object of the invention is to provide a baby carriage frame and a removable carriage body which has a lug at the front end receivable in a slot in the carriage frame, the carriage body being fastened on the frame by a thumb-screw at the rear.
Other objects and advantages will appear from the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the baby carriage showing how the body is attached to the frame, and
Figs. 2 and 3 are detail sectional views showing the means whereby the body is secured on the frame.
A baby carriage 9 includes a body 10 and a carriage frame 11. Both the carriage body 10 and the carriage frame 11 are 001- lapsible. For this purpose, the head and the foot of the carriage body are hinged and may be swung inwardly and down on the bottom 12 of the body.
The head and foot angle irons 13 and 14 of the carriage frame 11 are adapted to support the bottom 12 of the carriage body 10. For this purpose, the angle iron 14 is slotted at 15 to receive a lug or stem 16 on the.bot tom 12 of the carriage 10. The lug 16 has a curved end 17 with a notch on the inner surface. The carriage body 10 is set upon the carriage frame 11 on the channel irons 13 and 14 with the lug 16 in the slot 15. The carriage body is then moved forwardly so that the notch on the inner side of the end 17 engages beneath the channel iron 14: to hold the front end of the carriage body 10 in position.
A thumb-screw 18 which is threaded through a bracket 19 on the rear angle iron 13 engages the head of the carriage body 10 as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 and holds the carriage body tightly on the carriage frame.
While the construction and arrangement of the device as illustrated in the accompanyin g drawings is that of a generally preferred form, obviously modifications and changes therein may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the claim.
That is claimed is The combination with a carriage frame having a bracket at one end and a slotted angle iron at the other, of a carriage body having a lug for entering the slot, and a thumb screw in the bracket for engaging the carriage body to bind the lug in the slot;
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WALTER P. BAUMAN.
