IMPROVEMENT -|N BED-LOUNGES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,693, dated June 11, 1872.
. SPEClFICATION. 1, CHARLES H. HILDRETH, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Folding Lounges, of which the following is a specification The present invention relates to an improvement in that class of folding lounges which, when unfolded, is used. for beds; and the particular improvement consists in forming a groove transversely across both the body and folding parts, near the foot of the lounge, for the purpose of receiving a bolster, which is so constructed that one side will fit into the groove, where it is secured by buttons or other suitable fastening, the bolster being removable when not in use.

Fig. 2 is a plan view of the framework of the bolster, the covering C being removed. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal elevation of the folding part, showing the bolster as adjusted in the groove; Fig. 4, a broken plan view of the body and folding part, showing the groove.
The bolster-frame is shown at G H I, Figs. 1, 2. That part of the frame shown at G is formed to fit into the groove J, Fig. 4, where it is securely held, when in use, by buttons F or other suitable fastening; and to hold the outer end of the bolster up a pivoted leg, E, is employed, said leg folding up parallel with the frame G H I, when the bolster is to beinclosed between the part A and B when folded. By this means the lounge is elongated suitably to form a comfortable bed, While at the same time the bolster cannot be displaced by accident.
In practice the bolster-frame is made of iron, suitably covered with fabric so as to give a good finish.
' I claim- The removable bolster Gr H I, combined with the grooved parts A B, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
