formed by a flat sheet'ofmetal havinga slot. 34 therein adapted to register with and open the port 27 at the topof the oven when the damper is moved to its lowered position with itsbottom end closing the port 20 below the oven. In moving to this lowered position the damper 33 through the arm 31 will move the valve 29 to open the safety draft port 28 in the bottom wall 22 of the oven, thuspermitting a sufficient draft to pass through the ports 28 and 27 tothe stack 29 will pass thereinto.

1. An oil burning stove havingtherein oven about which the, hotgases pass, a smoke flue, there being, outlet ports for the hot gases opening from the oven and from below the oven into said flue, :means to control the admission of hot gases into the oven, damper means for sa d outlet ports, an aux- 1l1ary draft valve in the oven, andmeans to open said valve .when the damper mechanism is set-to pass the hot gases through the oven to said smoke flue. I

3. An oi burning stove comprising an oven, means to cause the hot gases to pass over and around under the oven, valve mechanism to admit the hot gases into the lower portion of the oven, a smoke flue, there being outlet ports for the hot gases entering said flue below the oven and near the top of the oven, a common ported damper slidable in the smoke flue and adapted to open one of said outlet ports as it closes the other, and a safety draft valve in the bottom of the 15 oven connected to the sliding damper and adapted to be opened thereby when said oven outlet port is open.
