Description

C. A. MAHER. COMBINATION SOAP AND APPLICATOR HOLDER.
APPLICATION HLED MW. 24, 1917- I Patented Aug. 13, 1918,
, unmuumuuu UhMAJIa'J ZQ' E ATTORNEY UNITED To all whom it may concern: a Y ,Be itwknown that I, CHARLEsAIlVIA ER, a citizen of the United'States, residing at allowa, in the county of Wallowa and State of Oregon, have invented a new and useful Combination Soap and Applicator Holder, of which the following is a specification. 7' j f r The invention, relates to a container,and more particularly to the class of combination soap and applicator holders;
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character, wherein a soap stick and applicator therefor will be inclosedwhen not in use, thus protecting the same and "yet making them readily and easily accessible for use, the appli cator being in the form of a rubber sponge fastened in position for the convenient handling thereof to enable the latheringof the face'of the user, the soap also being held f or its free application to the, face for shaving PI 'P a s g Anotherobject of the invention is the provision of a holder of thischaracter which is extremely simple and durable in construction, enabling the soap and applicator to be conveniently: held 1 in a compact manner, and s also which is inexpensive to manufacture.)
; With these and other objects in view,'the
invention consists the features ofconstrucand arrangement of parts tion, combination 'as will be hereinafter fully described, illusv trated inthe drawing and-pointed out in the claims hereunto appended; f V In the. accompanying drawing? Figure 1 isfa vertical longitudinal sec tional view throughthe holder constructed in accordance with-the invention, showing the soap stick and applicator-held therein; 'Fig. ,2 is a fragmentary side elevation partly section, showin'g the'applicator re .moved from the holder'and fastened there- .'on for use;
' Fig. 3 is a support; a Fig.4 is; a perspective'viewrof the applicator;
Similar reference characters indicate corperspective f view of the soap responding partsthroughout the several views in the drawing. 7 Referring to the drawing in ;detail, the holder comprises an inverted substantially cup-shaped support forming a connector 10, preferablymadefrorn metal, having formed exteriorly thereofon its side wall "11 c ew a v meado s Water at se 1-am j2o s,m;

The con a fastener '15 ends ofthe nector 10 forms a" socket for'the inner end of the soap stick'l6, which, in cross section,
is prefera y'the size of the socketin the connector to be received therein. 1
' Detachably engaged on opposite ends of theconnector' '10 are removable caps 17 and eaich being open'at one end opposite end, the open end 18 respectively, and closed at its a threaded forthe detachable being internally engagementof both ofthe caps on the connector as is clearly shown in'Fig. 1 of the" drawing. The cap 16Eisof alength and'size to inclose the soap" stick 'l6,'fwhile the cap I f18 form s a chamber 19 for v plicator hereinaftenfully described ,Th bod 21 which is ofgreater' diameter than the diameter of the body 20 to i constitute a receiving an 'ape applicator comprises a rubber sponge 20 having a relatively hard rubber base 7 marginal flange 22 circumferentially'ofthe V Sponge body for a purpose'tob'e presently described. 7
g The closed endofthefcap 18; is formed with external screw threads 23 for the detachable engagement of an internally thread- 7 Ted clamping collar 24; therewith which is formed with a central openin 25-for accommodating thespongebody 2010 the applicator, which'is passed through the central opening 25 to havethe base 21 restupon the-closed end of the cap l8, with '22 engaged by the collar 24 when screwed upon the closed end ofj th'e' *capl8- so' gthat theapplicatori is made fast 'jl'se of the-same, after" i the soap,{to -the face of the use purposes in shaving.
application of 1 The cap '18 houses the" applicator when not in use, and in this instance is detachably' the marginalflange thereon-forthe.
forflathering l lo for inclo'sing V i i the applicator Within the chamber 19. -It is necessary to remove the'caplS from the con nector 10 to extract or take out said applicator for use, which-applicator is'then applied to the closed end of the cap 18, the collar 24L being removed therefrom and subsequently applied thereto for the fastening of the applicator upon the cap as is clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing.
The ca is detached from the onnector 10 for exposing the soap stick 16 for use. The caps 17 and 18,-each is preferably made from metal and likewise the collar 24 is made from metal.
lVhen the soap stick and applicator are inclosed in theholden'the same will be protected and can be'conveniently carried from place'to place so that the holder is handy for travelers. Both the soap and applicator are readily accessible on removal of the caps, and will be held in a convenient manner for easy use.
It is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications may be made in the invention such as come properly within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of said invention or sacrificing anyof its advantages.
From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction and manner of use of the holder, soap stick and applicator will be clearly understood, thereforea more extendedexplanation has been omitted.
