To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RALPHCONWELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Big Piney, in the county of Uinta, State of NVy- Extractor; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrip tion of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to an improved cork extractor, and one of the objects of the invention is to provide a'simple, eflicient and practical device of this kind comprising improved features of construction.

One of the features of construction consists in the provision of apair of members pivotally united and having cork extracting jaws to be brought together to be forced into the cork, and then separated, so as to provide anchoring means to extract the cork.

A further object of the invention is to cork extracting jaws, so as to limit thet jaws with means to interengage with the members to limit the outward movement of the mem bers.

A further object of the invention is the provision of lips integral with the opposing cork extracting jaws, so as to limit the jaws in their closing action.

In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings and claimed.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in section of the mouth end of a bottle and the cork therein, showing the application of the cork extractor.

Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the cork extractor.

Fig. 3 is an edge view of the cork extractor, showing its cork extracting jaws fitted in a leather shield.

Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the leather shield.

Referring more especially to the drawing 1 and 2 designate a pair of members. Each member is constructed from a single length of steel wire or any other suitable material, having one end portion flattened out and drawn to a point and the other end portion is turned to form aloop 4. The flattened portions of both members are pivotally united as shown, by means of the rivet 3.

It is to be noted that when the members are brought together, that is their handle ends, the cork extracting jaws will be separated, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, thereby providing anchoring means for extracting the cork. The cork extracting jaws on their edges remote from each other are provided with oppositely and outwardly extending lips 7, which act as abutmentsto be engaged by the opposite edges of the jaws to limit the cork extracting jaws in their closing action. The finger engaging loops of the members have their extremities 5 ofi'set laterally in opposite directions, so that one of said ends 5 may be engaged by one edge of the member 2, and the otherextremity engaged by one edge of the member 1, so as to limit the members, that is their handleends in their closing action, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, and as shown in Fig. 2 in full lines. are closed as shown in Fig.3 they are inserted in a leather shield 8, a detail view of which is illustrated in Fig. 4. By means of this shield the sharpened ends of the jaws 6 are protected. This shield is constructed of two pieces of leather or other suitable material stitched together as shown.

The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is 1. In a cork extractor, a pairof members pivotally united, said members having cork extracting jaws adapted to be separated subsequently to having been inserted in a cork, said jaws having outwardly and laterally extending lips on their outer opposite edges, to be engaged by the other edges of the jaws, to limit the jaws in their closing actions, said WVhen the cork extracting jaws members having loop handles having their pivotally united, each member being .con-
