Description

J. H. AUERBACH. DETACHABLE SELF ADJUSTING conssrsmp.
APPLICATION FILED NOV- 5. 1N5- Patented J uly 2, 1918 I III was; co Pnomumm. wAsmNumN, n. c.
To all whom it mayconoem:
UNITEDSTATES PATENT JULIA H, AUERBAGH, or LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
Be it known thatI, JULIA-H. AUERBAGH, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of Los Angeles,'in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Detachable Self-Adjusting Corset-Straps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements" in detachable self adjusting corset straps, and the object of myinvention' is toprovidea simple and convenient self adjusting device for tightening a corset or' the like.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a view of the preferred form of my device,
Fig. is an optional form of the same.
Fig. 3 is a section of the device, on the line 33 in Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 is a section of the optional form of the device on the line 44 in Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a view of an optional form of the back lacing of the corsetby the use of my device, and
Fig. 6 is a view of the lacing plate.
Similar characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
My device comprises a plate 1 having apertures 2, formed in its inner marginal edge section, a buckle or clasp 3, adjacent each of said apertures 2, and a plurality of bent over hook sections 4, 4, 4 and a ribbon 5 of suitable fabric, carrying lacing plates (5 and 7. The ribbon 5 is threaded through a buckle or clasp 3 and is thence carried over the plate 1, and turned back and passed upward through the apertures 2 in the plate 1 and carried back to the lacing plate 6 through which it is threaded, and thence carried back to the plate 1 where it is passed downwardly through the apertures 2 in the inner marginal section thereof and carried thence back through the lacing plate 7 from which it is again brought forward to the plate 1 and passed again through the buckle or clasp 3 whereby the two end sections of the ribbon 5 will be held together-securely by means of the buckle or clasp 3, while the loops of the ribbon 5 carrying the lacing plates 6 and 7 will be free to adjust their relative positions by means of the free loop of the ribbon 5 in the aperture or slot 2.
In use the hook sections 4, 4 of the plate 1 DETACHABLE SELF-ADJUSTING consEr-sTRAn.
I Specification of Letters Patent. v I. BatentedJuIyZ, 1918. Application filed November 5,1915. Serial No. 59,732; I
are caught over or hooked upon the"front margin of a corset or the like of'any desired style and the hooks 8 and9 carried by the lacing plates 6 and 7 respectivelyare in- 'sert'ed in eyelets 10 in the .mar ginal back strip of a'corset'll, W
The device is intended to be used in pairs, one member of the pair being provided on eachside of the corset, and the members of the pair are counterparts, but, if desired, one of the members of the pair may be/Provided with a front plate 12 providedwith a slot 13 and eyelets14',14 adapted to be placed over studs provided on the usual form of corset and ajmarginal bar 15.,Inay be provided .onthe plate 12 to receivethe hooks '4, 4, of the plate 1;
In the optional form of the device illustrated in Fig. 2, the loopofthe ribbon 5 "intermediate its end loops 5 and 5" is carried back to a plate 16 intermediate the front and back of the corset sections and the intermediate loop of the ribbon 5 is passed through a slot 17 in the plate 16. In this form of the device the lacing plates 19 are carried by the loops 5 and 5 as above described. In this form of the device the intermediate plate 16 is provided with a buckle 18 which engages the ribbon 5 to hold the plate 16 in the desired position, and the ends of the ribbon 5 are secured by the buckle 3 on the plate 1 as above described. The lacing plates 19 are preferably provided with hooks 20, 20 adapted to engage the eyelets of the usual form of corset but any desired forn of engaging means may be used as de sired. The lacing plate 19 is provided with a slot- 21 through which the ribbon 5. is threaded.
In the optional form of lacing illustrated in Fig. 5, the ribbon 5 is carried acrossthe back of the corset from side toside through the lacing plates 19, 19 and thence secured in front by means of the buckle 3.
As many pairs of my device may be used upon a corset as desired and it may be substituted for the ordinary and usual form of lacing or it may be used in conjunction with theusual form of lacing if desired and it is also adapted for use as an abdominal sup- P My device is adapted to be used either un- 1 der or over a corset or thelike of any de' sired style and with it the corset may be easily and conveniently adjusted to the body without the usual form of lacing and it may also be readily removed when desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is: I
1. In a device of the character described, a plate adapted to engage a corset, a plurality of hooks adapted to engage a corset, and a strap. section:engaging the plate and independently engaging the hooks. I
2. In a device of the character described, aplate adapted to engage a corset, a plurality of hooks adapted to engage'a corset, and a strap section l engaging the plate and formed as a loop for independently engagingthe hooks, theloop of the strap including a portion from each hook being free of fixed connection with the plate.
3.; In a device of the character described, a plate adapted t o engage a corset, a plurality of hooks adapted to engage a corset, and strap having one terminal secured to the plate, ,"sia-id' strap being passed through the hooks in succession and in independent 0]? p r ns- 4, lacing strap for a corset, comprising a terminal section and a plurality of end sections independently adjustable in length,
titan of tilt patent he obtained for fiye cents each, by addressing] the whereby the corset may be drawn up to conform to the body of the wearer by ten sion on the terminal section alone.
5. In a corset, the combination of a buckle, an apertured engaging plate and a lacing strap threaded through the buckle, carried over the plate, turned back and passed through the buckle to an engaging plate at the ba'ckedge section of the corset and carried thence forward to the said apertured engaging plate, substantially as shown and described. 7
6. In a corset, the combination of a lacing strap, a buckle thereon, a section of the lacing strap being carried in independent loops between the buckle and the back portion of the corset and the end sections of the lacing strap being brought together in engagement With the front section of the corset, substantiall-y as shown and described.
Signed at Passaic, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, this 28th day of .OCtoberkA. D. 1 915.
