IMPROVEMENT IN MEDICAL COMPOUNQS 0R CARBOLATED COD-LIVER OILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,005, dated May 21, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN H. WILLsoN, of the city of Brooklyn, Kings county, State of New York, have invented a certain Medical Compound, called Carbolated God-Liver Oil, for treating consumption and other diseases,
of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in mixing cod-livervoil with carbolic acid. I take about one grain of pure crystals of carbolic for pulmonary consumption, and has proved itself of great benefit in scrofula, rheumatism,
and other diseases. The mixing of carbolic acid with oils is likewise a preventive against the oils becoming rank or rancid, and for that purpose may be combined with all other oils, such as olive and sperm oils, &c., or with lard. By using very fine crystals, which are odorless, it may be combined with essential oils.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The manufacture or preparation of a compound, which is denominated carbolated codliver oil, of the ingredients, in the proportions, and for the purpose set forth.
