AMFHOI'O-LITHUGHAPH/C C(ZMY, (OSBORIVE S PROCESS.)
UNITED STATES PATENT FFIGE.
THOMAS W. MOORE, OF NEW YORK N. Y.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,978, dated May 21, 1872.
end is composed, as hereinafter described.
The accompanying drawing represents the mode in which I propose to construct chairbacks or cradle-ends, but different in form, as.
the parts interlock or lap past each other, so as to fill the spaces between the two outsides A B to a greater or less degree.
One or both of the outsides may be divided, and the parts thereof may be interlaced with the other parts, as seen in the drawing.
0 represents the seat or rail of the chair, and one part, D, of the part A is made to bend over and enter the center of the seat, as seen at E, while the other part of the side A is curved round and interlaced, and is returned to the side A, as seen at F. G is apiece joined to the part A by bolts 0r screws or otherwise, and is curved over or interlaced with the other parts, and enters the seat or rail at H. The back or end may be made by bending over both of the outsides, the same as B is bent in the drawing. My object is to avoid rounds, and form chair-backs or cradle-ends by interlacing or passing the parts, as shown.
I do not confine myself to any particular method or manner of arrangement, so long as the sides A B lap past each other and the back is formed by interlacing or passing 'by each other.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-' A chair-back or cradle-end, formed by bending over the parts and lapping or interlacing them, substantially as shown and described.
THOMASW. MOORE.
