IMPROVEMENT IN GATES.
SPECIFICATION.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY BRoUsE, of Wellington, in the county of Lorain, in the State of Ohio, have invented certain Improvements in Farm-Gates; and do hereby declare that the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying plate of drawing hereinafter referred to,`forms a full and exact specification of the same, wherein I have set forth the nat-ure of my said improvements, by which my invention may be distinguished from others of a similar class, together with such parts as I claiml and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
. My invention relates to that class of gates known as farm-gates and the nature thereof consists in certain modifications in the details the position and relative arrangement of parts of the gate when open.
The construction, operation, and relative arrangement of parts of my invention may be described as follows:
In the drawing, letter A designates a gate provided with a sweep-weight, B. The said gate rests on and is secured to the posts C and D. Upon the top of the longer post, and revolving thereon, is the swivel E, within which revolves the roller F, upon which rests the upper bar of the gate. The other end of the said bar rests in the slot H cut in the upper end of the short post C. One end of the lower bar of the gate rests in a slot, I, cut in the lower part of the short post.
Having thus described the construction and operation of my invention, Iclainl and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the gate A, post D provided with the swivel E, andlpost C provided with the slots H and I, as above described.
