` i Specification of Letters Patent.
niciiann A. rancia, on rULroNviLLn,` NEW Ybnir, nssieNOn TO .WHITE MOP WRINGER ,cOi/iriiNY, or FULTONVILLE, NEwYORK, A CORPORATION or NEW YORK,
Patented June ii, i918.
`Application filed November 9, 1917.` Serial No. 201,020.
To fwzjomztmay concern Be it known that I, RICHARD A. BRAOE,
citizen of the United States, residing `at Fultonville, county of Montgomery, State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful lImprovement in `MopWringers, a
, and` declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact descriptionof `the same, such `as willenable others skilled in theart to which it pertains to make and use the same, refer ence being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part oflthis specification.
lMy invention relates to lzmop Wringers shown in the `accompanying drawings and more particularly described in the following speciication and claims.
One of the objects ofthis invention is an improvement in the general construction and operation of the mop Wringer on which U. S, Patent NO. 976,238 -was granted to Hubert C. White on 22nd day of November,
Another purpose of this invention is to reducel the cost of manufacture Without diminishing the efficiency of the invention.`
Another object ofthe invention is to pro vide means for guiding the lower edge of the mop upon being placed between the presser boards that it maynot` becomej entangled between thellower edge ofl the presser board and the bottom board-upon actuating the movable presser board. i By referring to the drawings in the lVhite patent it willbe seen that the aims of the rock shaft,to which the toggle mechanism for operating` the presser board is pivotally connected, are in radial alinement `with the arin at the end ofthe rock shaft to which the operating lever is bolted. Itwill therefore be obvious that in order to drillthe hole in each of the rocker arms to, receive the pivot for therespective tOggle mecha-` nism connected therewith, a drill must be provided of suiiicient length to reach from rocker arm to rocker arm, as the holes kcan only be drilled from oneend of the shaft because of the operating levei` arm at the opposite end of the `shaft being inradial alinement with said rocker arms. It has therefore required a relatively long drill to perform this operation which frequently breaks, greatly adding to the cost of production. It has also been found in actual practice that greater care must be exercised cured with a sufficient offset to admit of drilling a hole in the rocker arm from the end of the shaft nearest the respective arm,---` thus a shorter drill may Ybe employed with less liability of breakageand with greater production for a given period.
Anotherffeature of the invention consists in constructing the bell crank lever of the toggle mechanism with projecting lugs to serve in place of the loose pivot pins formerly employed. The lugs on the bell crank, which is preferably made of malleable iron, may thus be burred when the parts are as-` sembled to prevent accidental disengagement. This also cheapens the cost of manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in i i details of construction `hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes maybe made in the precise embodiment herein disclosed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 11 isl a perspective view of the mop wringer as it would appear supported on the rim of a pail, indicated in dotted lines.
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-sectional view on line 2 2 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the rock shaft and the bell crank toggle mechanism.
Referring now to the letters of reference placed upon the drawings:
A, A, are side frames or brackets pro device away 'from the presser board," as' willV formedu of woo/d. e e v IF, are springs between the depend'in'gillegs A2, aii'd them swinging jmembersfl), servingv t' forcethe presser 'boards apart :in po'sition toreeive'trhe mop between' 'thenif Y ind'icates'a Vroclrshaft supportedby the sidefframes A, A. e t e e Adjacent 'to ea'chend ofthe rocker 'shaft is e a'rocke'r: arnr'G", integral therewith: Piv
