Application filed August 22, 1917. Serial No. 187,607.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES MACDONALD, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, and a resident of the cityof New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York,"have invented a new and Improved Bill-Book, of which the following is and exact description.
.The invention relates to pocket books and its object is-to provide a new and improved bill book arranged to securely hold and readily accommodate a large number of bank bills and other valuable papers in folded position and without producing an unduly bulky package. pletely open In order to accomplish the desired result use is made of a flexible back approximately of the size of a bill, side pieces overlying the side portions of the said aek and connected and bottom edges, and a closing flap connected at the middle portion of its bottom edge with the corresponding portion of the bottom edge of the Figure 1 1s a perspective view of the bill book in a partly, open-position and witha portion of one of. he side pieces broken out; Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same com of bills;
Fig. 3 is an edgeview of the same with arts in folded position; and F1g. 4 is a sectional plan view of a portion of the bill book on the line 4:-4= of bill book is made of and approximately of a size corresponding bill. The side portions of the back pieces 11 and 12 to ers in position between the back the ends of the connected middle against a part. of thisspecification, in v ing out 12. The outer faces, of the for the insertion or removal flexible side pieces 11 and 12 connected along the outer and bottom edges to the corresponding edges of the back 10 by stitches 13 and 14, as plainly indicatedin the drawings.
A front flap 15 of a flexible material has a connection 16 at the middle portion of its bottom with a corresponding middle portion of the bottom ofthe back 10. The front flap 15 and.18 adapted to be tucked under the side securely hold the bills or other pa 10 and the out flap 15 and its extended portions 17 and 18. The front flap 15 is pref- I erably integrally connected with the back 10 at the connection 16 but the back 10 and the front flap 15 may be made of two pieces fastened together at 16. The ends of the connection 16 are spaced from the adjacent inner edges of the side pieces 11 and 12 to provide readily foldable compact portions 19 and 20 to permit convenient folding of the side portions of the .billbook one upon the other,
of the front flap 15 from accidentally sliding out when tucked under the side pieces 11 and 12, use is made of loops 21, one for each side piece 11 or 12, and arranged at the inner face thereof with the top and bottom edges fastened to the corresponding top and bottom edges and 12. f The end pieces 17 and 18 are provided with retaining lips 22 adapted to abut the inner edges the end pieces 17 and 18 from comfrom under the side pieces side pieces 11 and :12 are preferably provided card cases 25, 26, and a similar card case 27 is preferably formed on he front face of prevent the middle'portion of the front flap 16 but a position, as indicated in Fig. 2, for the insertion. or removal of a pile of bills, the bottom one of which overl es the back 10, and v the sides of the bill being tucked under the side pieces 11 and 12. The front flap 15 can then be readily swung most bill and the endportions 17 and 18 tucked under the side pieces 11 and 12 and Patented May at, 1918.
has extended side. portions 17 5 with the innermost side portion 80 overlying the middle portion of the front hold the end pieces 17 and18 v of the side pieces 11v 90 of the loops 21 to 11 and 95 front flap 15 i over onto the upper-.-

It will be noticed that by spacing the conlying the middle portion of the said closing flap.
2. A bill fold, comprising a flexible back approximately of the size of a bill, side PIECES overlying the side portions of the said back and connected thereto along the outer and bottom edges, a closing'flap connection 16 from the inner edges of the side nected at the middle portion of the bottom pieces 11 and 12, the end portions of the illbook with the bills therein can be readily folded one on top of the other without roducing a bulky package even if a very arge number of bills are placed in position a in the bill book.
, ortions 17 and 18 of the front flap 15 read- It is further understood that the free endiii accommodate themselves to curved shape en folding the end portions'of the bill as previously explained, especially as the 17 and 18 are free to slide under the side pieces 11' and 12when folding or unfolding the bill book, but the free and 18 are held against being end portions 1 accidentally pulled out from under the side pieces 11 and 12.
Having thus described'my invention, I
secure by Letters Patent 1. A bill fold, comprising a flexible back approximately, of pieces overlying the side portions of the said back and connected thereto along the outer and bottom edges, and a'closing flap connected at the middle portion of the bottom edge with the correspondin portion of the bottom edge of the said l ends of the connected-middle portion of the said closing flap being spaced from the adacent inner. edges the free end portions of the said closing flap being adapted to betucked under the said.
side pieces, the latter being adapted tobe folded one on the other, the innermostoverone on. the'other, the middle portion of the said closing flap,-
said end portions the size of a bill, side ack, the
of the said side pieces,
edge with the corresponding portion of the mg flap being spaced from-the adjacent inner edges ofthe said side pieces, the free -end portions of the said closing flap being adapted to be tucked under the said .side pieces, the latter'being'adapted to be folded the ,in'nermost overlying and retaining loops extending from top'to bottom on the inner faces of the said side pieces adjacent the inner edges thereof to receive and hold the free end portions of the said closing flap. v
3. A bill fold, comprising a flexibleback approximately of the size .of. a bill, side pleces overlying the side portions of the said back and connected thereto along the outer and bottom edges, connectedat the middle portion of the bottom ed e with-the correspondin portion of the ottom edge of-the said ack, the
ends of the connected middle portion of the.
said closing flap bein spaced'fromthe adjacent inner edges 0 ,the said side vpieces,
the free end portions oftthe said closing flap being adapted to be tuckedunder the saidside pieces, the latter; being* adapted to be and a closing. flap folded one on the other, theinnermost overflap, and means to limit the sliding out movement of the free end portions from under the said side pieces.
