To all whom it may concern:

;Be it known that I, Gosrnv .A'DOLF SACHS, a citizen of the German Empire, and a resident of Eugene, in the county of Lane and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 1 in Extension- Stocks for Pistols, of whichthe following is a specification.

Another advantage of this construction resides in the fact that the extension stock is detachable from the pistol, and the two parts can there- Mfore. be packed more readily than if their connection was permanent.

Various additional features which lend special advantage to the construction now dovised by me will be fully described below in connection with the accompanying drawings and the novelty of the invention will then be pointed out in the appended claims.

A typical example of my invention is illuswtrated in the accompanying drawings in Figure 1 is a side elevation showing a pistol in connection with my improved holster and extension stock;

Theholster 10 is made of substantially the usual shape, being considerably wider at one end than at the other so as to properly receive the pistol 11 with the handle 11, (see itswidc end the holster happenfor the insertion and removal of the pistol and has a flap 10 which may be held in the closed position by means of a pin and slot connection such as indicated. at 12. On the outside and adjacent to the wider end,-the holster is provided with a spring clip 13 substantiallyU-shaped as shown best in Figs. 2 and 3, said Clip ranging lengthwise of the holster and having its opening toward the narrow end thereof. This clip is generally made of brass and enables the holster with the pistol therein to be readily suspended from a belt or otherp'a'rt of the clothing as indicated at 14 in Fig. 2.

The holster is stifi'ened longitudinally both at the upper and at the lower edge. a At the lower edge a rib 15 of fiber or other suitable material is provided, the rear end of which is practically at the joint or hinge connecting the flap 10 with the body 10 of the holster. At its forwardend this fiber rib is continued upwardly to the upper edge of the holster as indicated at 15, and is formed exteriorly with a concaved seat 15" for the handle 11 of the pistol. The leather covering or like material used forthe holster is preferably riveted to said lower stiffener or rib 15 as shown in Figs. 1, 2, 4:. Along the upper edge of the holster there is another stiffener in the nature of a strip 16 of steel or like material preferably incased in leather or the like as indicated in Figs. 4, 5 and 7, and having its exposed rear end bent downward and forward as indicated at 16, so thatthis rear end will term a broader hearing for the upper end of a transverse elastic means comprises two plates 18 of fiber or like material provided at their lower ends with lugs 18 which register with a forwardly extending ridge or stop 15 (see Fig. 4), which serves to engage theend of the pistol handle (see Fig. 1). Through these plates 18 and through the forward portion 15' or the stifiener, as well as through the body of the holsterv extends a transverse pivot pin 19 on the ends of 0f the holster and is adaptedtofit around Fig. 6 to bring the eccentric pivotal con nection 22 forward of the axis of the pivot which are secured two disks 20' and 20' respectively. One of these disks 20 may be integral-with the pivot pin; the other is,

shown aswsecurecl thereto detachably by means of a screw 21, said disk 20 having a square hole to fit overa square portion 19 of the pivot pin, and being alsorecessed on its outer surfaceso that the head of the screw 21 may be counter-sunk.

7 Each of the disks 20 and 20 is providedwith an eccentric aperture which isindicated at 20 "(see Fig; 8 for receivingra screw 22, by

means of which a pivotal connection is established between the said disks and a holder strap or loop 23 preferably covered "with leather or the like on its major portion. This loop or strap which is substantially U-shaped embraces the forward end the pistol handle '11, as shown in Figfil.

The pivot 19 and the parts connected therewithmay be turned by means of a handle 20*, preferably formed integral with the disk 20. Afstop "such as 2 1 may be provided to limitthe movement of said lever when it' reaches its service position (see Fig.1). f

When it is desired to insert the pistol in the holder 23 and firmly connect" the pistol with theholster the lever 20 is first swung to the position indicated by full lines in 19, so that ample space is provided for inserting thepistol handle 11, which is made to rest on the stops 15 and 18', the

when, desired, it being understood that in this casethe screw 22 on that side would be removed and the strap then adjusted so as'to bring the hole 23 into registry with the hole 20", whereupon the screw 22 would be inserted again. This extra adjustment might be provided at each end of the strap 23. 1
