This invention relates to xvriting boards to be used by the blind, whereby they ma be applied to keep a given line or series of "lines in th'e-cours'e'of writing.

, One of the objects of "the present invention is to provide 'a simple, cheaply manufactured, easily manipulated board of the character described, which is adapted to receive and secure the paper or material to be u 'ritten upon and which is provided with a series of parallel, flexible "guiding; members which permit line after line to e written or properly spaced without moving the grooved or rabbeted, as shown at 2, and

they are, furthermore, perforated, as at 3, to permit the frame to be strung, as shown at a. An ordinary cord may be used and the ends of said cord may be knotted to secure it in place after the frame has been strung, or itmay be secured .to adjusting screws 5, as shown, to permit the tension of the cord to be varied at will.

The lower side of the frame is recessed, as at 6, for the reception of a panel or board 7. The recess forms a shoulder against which the board rests when inserted, and it is secured in this position first by inserting it in a groove formed at one side or one end of the frame, as shown at 8, and then by swinging latch 9 which locks it in place by entering a groove 10.

I wish it understood that various changes in form, proportions and minor details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims and that I do not wish to limit myself to the specific design and construction here shown.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim anddesire to secure by Letters Patent is- V 1. A writing board comprising a frame,

A writing board for the blind comprising a rectangular shaped, frame, said frame being grooved on'each side and provided with a series of transverse perforations, a continuous cord adapted to be strung through the perforations in the frame and secured therein to vform a series of flexible interspaced parallel writing guides, a tensioning screw to which one cord end is secured to permit th tension of the cord to be adjusted, a shoulder recess formed on the rear side of the frame, a board adapted to be placed in said recess, a latch adapted to secure the board in the recess, said board forming a support for the material to be Written upon, and a marker having sharp point formed thereon for indicating any desired point in a line of the Writing and a cord securing said marker to the frame.

A Writing board for the blind comprising a frame having a plurality of flexible guiding members secured therein, a board adapted to be Secured below the cords to receive material to be Written upon, means for securing the board in the frame, a movable marker adapted to be placed at any desirable point along the flexible lines, a pin on the marker to permit the marker to be inserted in the board and a flexible cord securing the marker to the frame.

A Writing board comprising a frame, a plurality of parallel cords secured in said frame, a board adapted to be inserted in the frame to permit the interposition of paper or other material to be Written upon between the cords and the board, means for securing the board and paper in the frame, and means for adjusting the tension of the cords.

A Writing board for the blind comprising a rectangular-shaped frame, said frame being grooved and perforated along each side, a continuous cord adapted to be strung side, a continuous cord adapted to be strung through the perforations in the frame and secured therein to form a series of flexible,

parallel Writing guides, means for varying the tension of the cord, and a shoulder formed on the lower side of the frame adapted to receive a board, said board being secured to the frame by inserting one side in the groove formed in the frame and by a swinging latch at the opposite end, said board serving as a support for the material to be Written upon.

7..An appliance to aid the blind in Writing, comprising a support for the paper to be Written on, a series of flexible guide cords spaced, Writing distance apart, stretched over said support, and a marker for indicating any desired point in a line of the Writing.
