GEORGE A. SLEIGHT, OF
DISINFECTANT-CONTAINER FOB TRAP-GUARDS.
Application filed June 5, 1917.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. Snnrorrr, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hyde Park, in the county of Dutchess and State of New York, have invented new and Improved Disinfectant-Container for Trap- Guards, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to Containers for a disinfectant, and has for an object the pro vision of an improved construction and arrangement whereby the disinfectant may be caused to act not only as disinfect-ant but as a deodorizing agent.
Another object of the intention is to provide a container or carrier of a particular type in connection With a trap for urinals whereby the disinfecting material is located in such manner as to produce the best results while. not allowing any Waste.
In the accompanying drawing 2- Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section through a urinal and a device embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a section through Fig. l on line 22.
Fig. 3 is fragmentary sectional View through Fig. 1 on line 33.
Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals, 1 indicates a urinal of any usual or preferred construction Which accommodates the pan 2 having a slight flanged formation 3 iittlllg' over the front While the rear is pressed at against the rear end of the urinal, thus pinching tl e pan in place. The pan 2 is preferably made from a single piece of metal pressed so as to have side walls as shown, merging into the diagonal bottom members and 6, said bottom members terminating in a depressed portion or recess 7 whi h is in effect a shoulder. The depressed portion or shoulder 7 is sufliciently deep to accommodate the perforated guard plate 8 so that the same will form substantially a continuation of the bottom members 5 and 6 and also the flange 9 of the container 10.
The container 10 is provided With an upstanding annular Wall 11in which a plu- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. it 1918.
Serial No. 1372,2388.
rality of comparatively large openings 12 are arranged, said openings falling short of the top and bottom but providing ample space for the circulation of air and vapor,
whereby the disinfectant 13 may freely act upon the vapor and not only produce the usual disinfectant results but de-odorize said vapor. The side Wall 11 merges into a bottornl; formed fiat, as shown in Fig. 1, said hot'om being provided with a plurality of I 17 pres ed up therefr in but falling short of the side Wall 11, as shown in Fig. 3, said edges acting a support for the disinfecting block 13. This construction will producea pocket or cup-shape structure in which some of the iiushi water will remain and will dissolve some the disinfectant so that upon the next flushing this will be removed and a new supply of Water proled. In this way a small supply of liquid disinfectant is provided While the principal supply is arranged into a solid block, as shown at 13. From Fig. 1 it will be seen that the parts fit snugly together when in position for use but that the perforated plate 8 may be easily removed and also the entire container 10 for cleaning and for renewal of the disinfectant 13. If desired, the entire pan 2 may be removed although this ordinarily is not necessary.
VVh-at I claim is:
As an article of manufacture for use in a urinal, a pan. having a central opening, rear, side and front converging imperforate portions engaging said urinal, a depending container fitted into said central opening and engaging the pan so as to be supported thereby. said container being tubular in construction and formed with a plurality of comparatively la ge openings in the side Walls thereof fall] short of the bottom whereby there is provided a liquid containing recess in the lower part of the container, and spaced recessed portions in the bottom extending substantially across the bottom for allowing fluid to pass beneath an article arranged on the raised portions.
