NOTE-PAD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 19, 1918.
Application filed June 18, 1917. Serial No. 175,478.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KARL VIKToR RUDIN, correspondent, subject of the King of Sweden, residing at Karduansmakaregatan 12, Stockholm Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvement in Note- Pads, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to note-pads having a plurality of piles of leaves of paper, fabric or other suitable material attached side by side to the same base plate and is chiefly characterized bythe leaves of each pile being fastened together at the two edges extending perpendicularly to the boundary-lines between the piles.
The advantage of this arrangement is chiefly that the upper surfaces of the piles offer a smooth plane and firm writing surface and at the same time the notes can be easily overlooked and each note may be readily deleted.
Ihe invention is illustrated on the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows a plan view of the note-pad and Fig. 2 a section of the same on the line AB in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows a modification.
a designates the base which may consist of paste-board or other suitable material. 6 designates the different leaf-piles which are attached to the mounting plate side by side so that the boundary-lines between them are parallel and their upper surfaces practically form one continuous writing surface. The leaves of each pile are fastened together at two opposite edges 0 and cl.
To obtain a practicable pad it is required not only that the upper leaves together and separately form a smooth plane and firm writing surface but also that they are capable of being removed quickly and readily and independent of each other.
The above may be accomplished in any practical manner, but I preferably fasten the leaves of each pile together at the two edges perpendicular to the parallel boundary-lines, as mentioned, in any suitable manner. By this arrangement it is attained that the separate leaves are kept smooth and plane thus forming a firm writing surface and further that they may be readily removed.
In the pad shown in the drawing the leaves are fastened together by means of strips 0 of paper or other suitable material. By cutting one corner of the leaves a certain part of one fastening edge has been left free if the fastening material, as shown at f in Evidently, two pads of the kind shown in Fig. 1 may be bound together in the manner shown in Fig. 3 so as to form a book which can be folded up with the writing surfaces turned inward. By this arrangement the writing surface is increased and the notes may bebetter protected and preserved. F urther, the pad will obtain an increased stiffness.
Having now described my invention, what I claim is:
Note-pad consisting of two sets of piles of note-leaves the leaves of each pile being fastened together at the two edges extending perpendicularly to the boundary lines between the piles and the two. sets being mounted so as to form a book with the writing surfaces of the two sets facing each other.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
' KARL VIKTOR RUDIN.
