To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD H. Knusn, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Fort Wayne, in the county of Allen and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and use Lath-Stays," of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in lath stays intended. especially to be used in conjunction with mounting strips for electrical switch-boxes such, for example, as those disclosed in my application for Letters Patent, Sr. No. 7 8,854.

The object of the improvement is to afford support for the extending ends of lath which terminate adjacent the switch-box I position between the studding secured and beyond which the lath extend, the present invention being intended to secure the extending ends of the lath adjacent the switch-box that is placed between the studding.

The object of the invention is accomplished by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

A is the support, made of sheet metal, and having flat end portions (B) adapted tobe introduced and held within the U-shaped mountin strips (\J) by extending thereinto. The space between sald portions are made to correspond approximately with that the projecting ends of the lath may be introduced betweenthe rearward and forward portions of the support. In the rearward and forward portions of the plate are made indentations (F) located approximately at their middles, the indentations being intended to hold the lath apart from each other while secured in the support.

' In Fig. 1 is illustrated the mounting strips (C) that support a receptacle (G) of known construction that is adapted for the reception of an electrical switch, the latter the thickness of lath so not being shown. The lath (H), secured to the studding (J) extend to a point ad cent the receptacle (G) with their ends projecting into the support (A), the latter being positioned with its ends (B) extending respectively into the mounting strips (0) When the ends of the lath are thus held, and the wall is completed in the customary manner by applying superficial coats of plastering, a substantial wall construction is obtained even though the lath are out to admit of the introduction of the switch-box.

What I claim is In a device of the class described, the combination of a pair of oppositely positioned U-shaped strips, and a lath support, the flat end portions of which are adapted. to be inserted respectively into the U-shaped strips and held thereby, the support having intermediate transverse members spaced apart by the rearward and forward respective portions thereof and adapted to receive and support thereoetween the projecting ends of lath, said support being also adapted to be adjustably shifted in position from one end of said strips to the other.
