.. ILLINOIS, A COIzronArIONor ILLINOIS. 'f f f vSACRAL REST.
Lasagne.
To all fui/'wm t 'may concern; Y l Y Beit known that I, LOUIS G. RINK, a citizen of the United States, residing at 155-157 North Michigan Ave., Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sacralv Rests, of which the following is a specication. Y
My invention relates to certain new vand useful improvements in sac'ral rests, and is fully described and explained in the specification and shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure l is asideelevation of my device as used; Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 is an endview of the device.-
Referring to the drawing; 4 is a Vbase supporting a post, '5, upon whiehis mounted a vertically adjustable sleeve k6 which may be looked at various heights by a screw 7 engaging depressions in the post. The' sleeve has a rounded upper end 8; 9 isthe rest proper, the same having a 'curved portion fitting the spine and an upwardly pro.- jecting tip 10like the horn of asaddle. This tip fits over therounded upper end 8 of the sleeve 6 and may be engaged by a setsorew l1 in thevpost to be' set at various angles thereon.
The device findsits principal usefulness in applying plaster bandages in case ofV injuriesVv to the hips and thighs. The patient is supported well vabove the Ylevel of the table by pillows, or the Lilia-under the Shoulders. The restproper is placed in position with its main portion supporting the lower end of Y the back andthetip or horn projecting up between the legs. The patients legs may be supported at alevel with the body in any desired.Y manner. The present device thusY affords a clear space underneath the body at about the sacral line and it is, therefore, very `easyto bandage the patient, since the bandage can be passed around and around the trunk without difficulty. When the bandage is Vin place the rest can be removed in a forward and upward direction, its curvature Copies otlthis patentV may be obtained for ve cents each, byv addressing the" Commissioner of Patents,

I realize thatV considerable variation is 'K possible' in the details of `the construction' herein shown, and I do not intend tojlimit niyself'thereto, except as pointed out in the Y following claims, in whichit is my intention to claim all the novelty inherent'inthe deviceas broadly as is permitted by the state',v
of the art. l
What l claim as newand desire to secure' ,by Letters Patent, is:
l. rfrsacral rest Acomprising a base, a support risingiherefrom, and a rest proper mounted to rock on said support and curved 'i to fit the spine vand having `an upwardly` curved tip adapted to lie betweenthelegs of `the patient.
