IMPROVEMENT IN ENVELOPES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 125,664, dated April 16, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
I, CALVIN GROWELL, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Letter Envelopes, of which the following is a specification:
Nature and Objects of the Invention.
The nature ofmy invention consists in the construction of letter envelopes in such a manner that the scaling is done upon the inside, thereby securing it from beingopencd bymoistening the gum or otherwise without defacing or injuring the envelope.
Construct ion.
line G G; then fold the side laps D upon the lines H'H and insert their tips into the cuts 13 B then fold the lap E upon the line I I, and insert its tip into the cut 0 and between the tips of the side laps D and the inner surface of the part A.
To seal the envelope, moisten the gum at F, and when inserted in the cut G press the parts together and the laps D. The lap E and the inner face of the part A will be firmly sealed together beyond the possibility of opening without defacing or destroying the envelope.
hat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The construction of an envelope with cuts B and C, as shown, whereby it may be folded as described, and the inside sealed, substantially in the manner, and for the purpose set forth.
