Be it known that I, Jona* F. Graniti., a citizen of the United States, residing at Flora, in the county of Clay andl State cf Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Radiator Foot-Rests, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to attachments for radiators, and particularly to a foot rest adapted to be applied to a radiator such as is used in warming houses.

The general object of the invention is to provide a foot rest of this character which may be applied to practically all forms of radiators commonly used in heating houses and which may be lirmly held in adjusted position thereon.

And a further object is to provide a device of this character which is capable of adjustment so as to raise or lower the foot rest and bring it in proper position to use.

Other objects will appear in the course of the following description.

My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein Figure 1 is a view of a radiator with my foot rest applied thereto, the radiator being shown in dotted lines and the foot rest in section, the section being taken on the line 1-1 0f Fig. 2;

Fig. 2 is a'top plan view of a radiator shown in dotted lines and of the foot rest;

Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2;

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the brackets whereby the foot rest may be supported.

Referring to these figures, 10 designates the foot rest proper which consists of a longitudinally extending member formed of wood, metal or any other suitable material, and having any desired shape, the foot rest preferably consisting of a plate 11 upon which the body of the foot rest is bolted, riveted or otherwise secured, the body of the foot rest being preferably of non-heat conductive material.

Mounted upon the rear face of the foot rest are the brackets 12 of the form illustrated in Fig. 4, each bracket being preferably formed of sheet metal having a laterally extending base 12a slotted for the passage of a bolt 13, provided at its end with a Specification of Letters Patent.

nut 14. By this means the bracket may be held in adjusted position upon the foot rest. Each bracket is formed with an inwardly extending notch 15 and the legs 16 formed above and below this notch are notched or otherwise formed to provide a V-shaped recess 17, in the end of each leg. The outer edge face of each bracket is inclined, as at 1S, so as to hold the foot rest in an inclined position.

For the purpose of holding` the foot rest upon a radiator and permitting it to be adjusted, I provide upon the inner face ot' the foot rest, a plate 19 having a central screw-threaded portion 20 and detachably engaged with this plate 19 is a rodV 2l, the extremity of which is screw-threaded as at 22 and carries a winged nut 23. The clamp 24 is slidably mounted upon the rod 21 inward of the winged nut.

In practical use, this device is applied to a radiator against the coils thereof, as illustrated in Fig. 1, the V-shaped notches or recesses 17 accommodating the coils. The rod 21 passes between the coils and the clamp 24, engages the coils of the radiator and by tightening up on the nut 23 the foot rest may be held in any vertically adjusted position upon the radiator. It is an easy matter to adjust this foot rest to any desired position.

It is obvious that the device may be made more or less ornamental and that it may be made of any suitable material. Preferably, however, the foot rest proper 10 will be nonmetallic so that it will not get too hot. It is also obvious that various changes may be made in the details of construction, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

I-Iaving described my invention, what I claim is l. As an article of manufacture, a foot rest for radiators comprising a foot rest proper, brackets mounted upon the rear face of the foot rest and having laterally eXtending slotted members, the outer ends of the brackets being' bifurcated to t against and receive the coils of a radiator, bolts passing through the said slots and holding the brackets to the foot rest and permitting the brackets to be longitudinally shifted along the foot rest, and means extending from the foot rest adapted to clamp against the radiator and hold the foot rest in place.
