` Stretchers; and I do GUY A. MAHANEY, 0F JOKER, WESTl VIRGINIA.
NncK'rIn-srnnrcnnnj To all whom it may concern:
Be it known .that I, 4Grmr A. MAHANEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Joker, in the county of Calhoun and State of West Virginia, have 'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and` exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
l construction and one that can be .50
This invention relates to improvements in necktie stretchers.
The object of this invention is the provision of a necktie stretcher upon which ties may be placed and clampedl thereon and held ina firm stretched position, thus removing the Wrinkles and creases from the ties and prolonging the life of the ties due to keeping the same in a stretched position at all times.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a pair of parallel spaced clamping members which are integrally connected at one end and having a spring located between the opposing faces of their free ends and a clamping or locking ring slidably arranged on the stretching members holding a tie against the outer surface of the stretching members and the spring normally urging the stretching members apart to hold the ring thereon.
A. still further object of this invention is necktie stretcher which one, end by a loop for resiliently supporting the members in spaced relation with one hbother, adapted to receive a tie thereover, and a locking ring embracing the members firmly clamping a tie to the outer plane surfaces, and a supporting member at the con nected ends ofthe members for securing the device to a support. t
A still further object of this invention is the provision of a neckti'e stretcher of this character, which will be simple, durable and efficient and comparatively inexpensive in manufactured and sold at a small cost.
With theseand other objects in view, the
invention consists 1n the novel combination and arrangement of parts heremafter more `and also Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Jan, 22, l.

fully described and hereto appended.
In the drawing:
' Figure 1 1s perspective View of my improved necktie stretcher made in accordance with this invention,
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of thesame,
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 3e-3 of Fig.4 2.
Like numerals of reference designate corset forth in the claims responding parts in all the figures of they drawing. l
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral l designates a necktie stretcher in its entirety which comprises a piece of fiat resilient metal which is looped at its medial portion as at 2 to provide theV spaced stretching members 3. The stretching members have the outer plane surfaces, which are substantially Vshap'ed, thus providing a body of the necktie stretcher.
The stretching members 3 having the V shaped plane` surfaces `are connected together at their apexes as at 2, thus providing the spaced diverging stretching members so lthat a tie when placed thereon will be readily and quickly stretchedl and the creases removed therefrom.
Formed integrally with the inner face of one of the stretching members 3, adjacent each longitudinal side edge thereof, are the guide flanges 4, which ilanges terminate adjacent each end of the members 3, as at 5 limit the inward movement of the members 3 toward one another.
A locking ring 5 comprises the side walls 6 and end walls 7, said walls having their opposite edges vcurved outwardly and upwardly as at 8 so as to permit the ring to be freely slid upon the stretching members 3. The locking ring 5 is slipped over the smaller ends or the connected ends of the stretching members and forced toward the flared ends thereof, as illustratedin Figs. 1 rand 2, to firmly clasp a necktie upon the buter iplane surfaces of the stretching members 3.
Formed integrally with the inner faces of the'end, walls 7 of the locking ring 5" are the guide flanges 8', which have the horizontally directed portions 9 formed on their extreme the flanges 4, said the stretching members 3 is the coiled spring guide iiangesU1 8 preventing any twisting movement ofi tli'elocking ring on the stretching members ,3 when being slid thereover or during the clamping of a tie to the stretching members.
Arranged between the opposing faces of 10,v which coiled spring has one nected to one member 3 as atl l1 and its opposite end connected to the 'inner face of the other stretching member as at 12, thus normally urging the members away from one another.
The necktie designated medial portion 2 thus positioning the ends on the opposite sides of the stretching members and upon the plane surfaces thereof, the ends are extended beyond the enlarged ends of the stretching members as shown at 13 in Fig. 2 lofthe drawings, the locking ring is then slid over the smaller ends of the stretching members and'urgedr toward the larger pends thereof, thus firmly clamping A has its smaller the neclttie against the plane V-shaped surfacesof the stretching members 3.'
A wire supporting hook 14 is substantially U-shaped and has its legs bent angularly as at and arranged under the loop portion 2 of the stretching members, thus firmly positioning the supporting member 14 in p sition, and the Web or bight portion of the U-shaped member 14- is constricted as at 16 Y to provide a support which is adapted to be arranged upon a nail, hook or the like for supporting the stretcher when assembled in position upon a support or the like.
When the locking rin 5 is arranged upon the necktie and move along toward the larger ends ofthe stretching members 3, it c anbe readily seen that the creases of the vtie are removed When the tie is firmly clasped upon the plane surfaces members 3 and kept in a until Wanted f u remove the tie allxv of the stretching stretched position hen it is desired to that is necessary is to from, thus releasing the stretching members,
portion arranged over the looped,
force the locking ring 5 towardthe smaller ends and remove. the same entirelv theremay be taken from the hat is claimed-is:
l. A necktie stretcher body bent at its medial portion to provide spaced substantially V-'shaped stretching members, a supporting loop arranged at the medial portions of the members, longitudinally extending guide flanges formed integrally withy the inner face of one of said stretcher and used..
comprising a flat of the members d a locking ring slidably arranged over the members, and
ing` ring to prevent the twisting of the locking ring upon the members.
plane surfaces, a pair of spaced longitudinal guide flanges formed integrally with one of said members adjacent the opposite side longitudinal edges thereof, a spring arranged between the opposing faces of said members adjacent the enlarged'ends thereof, and a supporting loop at the medial portions of said members, al locking ring slidably arranged on said members, and guide flanges formed inte- 'gi-ally with the side walls of the loking tie so that the same a coiled spring arranged f means carried by the lockagainst the under side of one of said stretch-v movement of the locking ring upon the stretching' members, as and for the purpose specified.'
