. HEN-BOOST.
Application filed August 31, 1917.
[ '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SARAH CLARK, (Mrs.,) a citizen of the United States, residing at Contact, in the county of Elko and State of Nevada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hen-Boosts; and she does hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in hen roosts and consists of a simple and efficient device of this nature comprising various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification and in which:
Figure l is a side elevation of a hen roost made in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Fig. 3 is a view in elevation showing the tray sections elevated.
Fig. I is a view showing the device with the legs folded.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter:
A designates the side pieces of a frame and which are made of any suitable material, preferably metal. Legs D are pivotally mounted upon the pins E passing through the walls of the slots F at the ends of the side pieces A, and I designates braces pivoted at their outer ends to the legs D and each brace is provided with an aperture K for the reception of the screw L whereby the inner ends of the braces are fastened to the side pieces A. Nut-s are mounted upon the threaded ends of the screws.
Trays, designated by letter M, having their inner ends opened and their outer ends closed, are provided with cross pieces T forming roosts for the hens and the inner ends of said tray are pivotally mounted upon the rounds M. The outer end of each of the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 15, 1918.
Serial No. 189,094.
trays is provided with a handle S forming a convenient means whereby the outer ends of the tray may be tilted up for the purpose of relieving the trays of any droppings therein. Receptacles IV are positioned underneath the inner ends of the trays and adapted to receive any droppings which may be discharged from the trays.
Cross pieces, designated by letter 0 connect the side pieces and upon which the outer ends of the trays rest when in a horizontal position.
By the provision of a hen roost, made in accordance with my invention, it will be noted a simple and efficient apparatus is constructed, and when not in use may be folded into compact form, and which will be thor oughly sanitary.
\Vhat I claim to be new is:
1. A hen roost comprising a frame with side pieces, trays pivoted with their inner ends adjacent to each other between the side bars of the frame, and having cross bars upon the upper edges thereof.
2. A hen roost comprising a frame with slde pieces, trays pivoted with their inner ends adjacent to each other between the side bars of the frame, and having cross bars upon the upper edges thereof, and means for connecting the side pieces for supporting the trays in a horizontal position.
3. A hen roost comprising a frame with side pieces, rounds connecting said side pieces, trays with their adjacent ends open and pivoted upon said rounds, said trays having cross bars forming roosts, and handles at the outer ends of the trays forming a convenient means for tilting the trays.
4. A hen roost comprising a frame with side pieces, rounds connecting said side pieces, trays with their adjacent ends open and pivoted upon said rounds, said trays having cross bars forming roosts, and handles at the outer ends of the trays forming a convenient means for tilting the trays, and means for connecting the side pieces for supporting the outer ends of the trays in a horizontal position.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SARAH CLARK. IVitnesses Mrs. J. H. MILLER, MARION D. BUENSEL.
