Be it known that I, JOHN SAMUEL, of the city of Montreal, in the Province of Quebec, Dominion of Canada, a subject of the King of Roumania, and useful Improvements in Belt Attachments; and I do hereby declare' that the f ollowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.

My invention relates particularly to ther attachments for belts whereby theyare retained against vertical displacement, and it has for its object to provide abuckle adaptedl to perform the dual function of a fastener for a belt and a retainer for the belt preventing vertical displacement.

My invention consists essentially of a buckle for a belt adapted to encircle the body and comprises essentially means for fastening the buckle to one end of the belt, means for- -ad`ustably fastening of the elt thereto. and, as a component and integral part, a plate-.like member with a hook for preventing vertical displacement l of the buckle and consequently the belt from proper trousers supporting position, this hook being formed by a piece of the bucklehook, which is of plate-like form, partially separated therefrom and offset relatively thereto, the purpose of this hook being thatl the ,hook may be inserted into or beneath the usual fastening device for the front of the waist-band of the trousers.

What I claim is as follows:
