'Ihisinvention relates to an improvedtype of loose. leaf binder of the so-called tray type which 4has come into 'Wide use in what 1'*.a1ekno\'vn in the trade as machine book- 'f keeping' systems. The binder is so conl structed' as ro be used with a particular kind fof stand or support to facilitate removal andY insertion, as well" as shifting of the pages or leaves and'in a manner such that the same are all properly alined so that the binder may be readily closed and '-iocked up when it is desired to remove the'same from the stand.

It is an object therefore of this invention to construct a tray binder adapted for use on a supporting stand so as to be opened and separated with the leaves or pages loosely contained in thecover trays thereof, and

It is finally an object of this invention to construct an improved type of tray binder embodying a number of novel features of operation and construction, 'and further provided `vith detachable means for Vinsuring proper registrationof the 'leaves `or sheets as they are placed into the Itrayswhen the binder is opened and'separated to form tray sections. i

Thus pagesorileavesxplaced upon the ment at tWo edges and therefore registration of the respective pages is assured, so that when the binder is again locked up the apertures in the leaves will ybe in register with one another and with the apertures provided for the ends of the binder posts in the binder plates, so that the bindin posts may be easily inserted intol place anc the covers of the binder locked together. The locking means'by which the covers of the binder are locked together is simple, and as clearly shown in Fig. 7, merely consist *of pivot levers 9, and a stationary locking pin 14. at each end of the device.

The construction of the binder according to the principles of my invention permits the use of leaves having round apertures punched in one of the side margins thereof,

` l and this feature provides a more convenient sheet for handling, particularly in inserting and removing the same in or from a typewriter, than the usual type of sheet which has `V-notches in its Ylower margin, and consequently oftentimes becomes dainagied whenfso handled.'
