This invention has for its object to reduce the expense ot'imitation braids, water-falls, or chignons, by doing away with the necessity of braiding the same; and consists in a chignon, as a new article oi' manufacture, the same being produced by subjecting it to pressure and heat in such manner that the desired form and appearance is produced without braiding or twisting the hair or imitation hair by hand. At present such articles, whether produced from hair or other ber, are braided to imitate natural braids. l The process of so doing is tedious and costly, and requires a considerable additional quantity of material that cannot be exposed to View on account of the peculiar formation of the braids.
lMy imitation chignon, A, is provided with imitation bra-ids e ct, produced by pressure between appropriate-shaped dies, which are heated to impart gloss, and to cause the bers to retain the shape imparted to them. In this manner an article equally as valuable as, but far less expensive than, the braided chignons, is obtained.
Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As anew article of manufacture, an improved pressed imitation-braid chignon, as set forth.
