This invention relates to a garment hanger which may be employed as a support. for either mens or,` womens` wea-ring apparel when ynot in use.

, The primary objectof the invention. is to provide a hanger of this characterr which is adjustable to enable the hanger to be used in connection with garments ofditlerentsizes and is so constructed that an entire suit of clothing may be` connected therewith and supported thereby in such? a manner as to insure the wrinkles beingremoved from the garments when disconnected from the hanger. a

, Another object of the invention `is to pro vide a hanger of thischaracter which is so constructed as toenable the garments when connected therewith to be creased in the proper places andfispparticularly service able for this purpose when used in'connecf tion with trousers, coats, and the like.

W'ith these and other objects in view, theinvention resides in the novel combination and arrangement of parts, which will be .hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.

The preferred embodimentk of. the inven` tion yhas been illustrated in the accompanying drawings, although no restriction is necessarily made to the precise details of construction therein shown, as changes, alterations, and modifications, within the scope of the claimsmay be resorted to when desired.

Referring now to the drawings in detail, the letter A designates a garment hanger constructed in accordance with the inventionnand having a plurality of spaced and horizontally extending cross strips 5 curved fon a portion of their length adjacent their ends. The strips 5 are formed from resilient material andk have arranged thereon a pair of'spaced and vertically extending bars 6 and 7.

The 4bar 6 is rigidly secured to the cross strips 5, while the bar 7 has secured to the rear `face thereof tongues Sbetween which and the bar pass the cross-strips 5, said bar being retained upon the strips byA loops 9 having pivotal connection with .the bar: andengaging the free ends of the tongues 8.

Eachrt-ongue 8` has formed thereon a rib 101` which when the tongue is engaged by a loop 9 on thefbar 7 is received within a` groove 11 inthe backofthe strip whereby, the bar 7 y is normally locked against longitudinal movement on the strips 5, but may be moved longitudinally of said bars when the occasion requires by releasing the loops from the tongues 8.

Supplemental bars 12 and 13 extend transversely of the strips 5 adjacent the ends thereof with the bar 12 which is arranged in spaced relation to the bar 6 rigidly connected witlr,tlre strips, while the bar 13 is slidably connected with said strips by means of tongues 14 and loops 15 corresponding kinwconstruction and arrangement tothe loops-and tongues onthe bar 7.

- A pair of auxiliary bars 16 and 17 which are'of less length than the bars 6 and 7 are held in contact therewith by springs 18, the arms 19,01 which are crossed and have their free endsV connected with the bars to hold the same in contacting relation, wherebythe auxiliary bars-16 and 17 coact with thel bars :6 and 7 in providing the garment hanger with main clamps by means of which a skirt-ora pair ot trousers'may be creased when connected with the hanger. One of the springs 18 connected with each of the main clamps is provided with a prop leg 17 by means of which the clamps may be held in open position, while each of the bars 6 and 7 included in the main clamps have secured thereto above the strips 5, a

One of the springs 21 connected with' each supplemental clamp `is provided with a prop leg 21 which is pivotally connected with-one arm of the spring whereby the prop leg when engaged with the other arm of thespring as shown in Fig. 5 in the draw-` ing enables the supplementalV clamps to be held mv open position to facilitate themsertion between the bars comprising the vclamp of the portion of' the garment rto be creased. I Y rllhe main bars 6' and 7 have secured thereto theterminals of a flexible attaching member22 with which is swingingly connected a curved supporting bar 2-l which may be arranged within acoat, waist, or the-like, when the hanger is in use.

When it is` desired to use the hanger as l a support for a suit of clothing, the main and supplemental clamps may-be held in open position by means otthe prop legs 17 and 21 andthe trousers, or skirt as the case may be, folded in the usual manner and connected with the hanger by the clips 17, with the portion of theV garment to be creasedfarranged*between the bars forming the main clamps. y

F rom theY foregoing description, taken in lconnection' `with-the accompanying drawings, it is at once apparent that a garment hanger has been provided whichlthough comparatively inexpensive' of manufacture, is highlyecient for the `,purpose-set forth.'

' Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is:
