sTATES PHILIP H. VVIEDERSUM, OF NEW YORK, N.
PATENT FFICE.
Y., ASSIGNOR TO WIEDERSUM IMPROVEMENT IN HARNESS-PADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,185, dated February 27, 1872.
SPECIFICATION.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PHILIP H. WEIDERSUM, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seamless Pads for Harness; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specitication.
The nature of my invention consists in the manner or mode of making the K-pad of double harness so as to show no seam in any place, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to'describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure l is a perspective view of a part of my improved K-pad for double harness, and Fig. 2 is a crosssection of the same.
0 represents the pad, and D the top or outer covering of the same. G is the inner covering of the pad. The facing of the pad G is turned up along its edges over a leather cord, at, runnin g the entire length of the pad, and the thusturned or doubled edge is sewed to the cord and to the upper side of the ,inner covering G of the pad in such a manner that no stitch or seam will be visible on the outside, and form a soft and raised edge along both sides of the pad. The top or strap D is then laced to the pad 0, between the corded edges, as shown at d, by a string, cord of leather, or other suitable material being drawn through the top of the pad and the under side of the strap far enough from the edges so as to be entirely hid from view when finished, thus forming, as it were, a seamless pad.
This mode of making the pad causes it to present a beautiful and neat appearance.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the pad 0, leather cords to a, inner covering G, and outer covering D, when said parts are connected together, as described, so as to present the appearance of a seamless pad, substantially as herein set forth.
