IMPROVEMENT IN BOOT-JACKS- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,759, dated February 20, 1872.
SPECIFICATION. To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS ANTHONY, o'f
Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Boot-Jacks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear a person skilled in the art can make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyiu g drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
My invention consists in a device, constructed of straps of leather or'other flexible material, by which boots can be easily removed from the 4 feet without touching them with the hands or soiling the clothes of the wearer; and its object is to provide a portable boot-jack for the above purpose, which can be conveniently transported by travelers in the smallest satchel, or even carried on the person.
The drawing represents my invention as applied to a boot ready to be drawn off.
A is a strap, which passes over the heel and instep, as shown. B is a strap'passing under the bottom of the foot. 0 is a stirrup-strap,
in which the toe of the other foot is inserted, or which can be passed over any fixed object, forthe purpose of drawing the boot. These and exact description thereof, whereby foot. The strap A may also have a buckle for altering its size.
The operation of my invention is as follows: The foot is inserted through the strap A, which is placed in the position shown in the drawing, bringing the strap B close under the instep. The toe of the other foot is then inserted in the loop or stirrup G, and the foot withdrawn from the-boot.
Claim.
That I claim as my invention is A boot-jack constructed of the straps A,B and O, substantially in the manner described.
