The above and additional objects are accomplished by such -means;-as.=areiillustratedn in their preferred embodiment in the accome panying drawings, described in the following specification and then more particularly pointed out in the claims which are appended hereto and form a part of this application.
In describing my invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation illustrating the improved scythe-snath fastener;
Fig. 2 is a similar view, the opposite side to that illustrated in Fig. 1 being shown;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1;
Fig. i is a similar view on the line 4 -4 of Fig. 2; and
Fig. 5 is a similar view on the line 55 of Fig. 2.
Referring now to the drawings by numeral 1 designates the snath and 2 the blade, the latter having the usual angular shank or Specificationof Le tteis Pat nt.

2, the nut 16 is operated to withdraw the said screw from engagement with the wedge block 9, the screws 10 are removed, and the wedge block forced from beneath the securing ring 11, whereupon a sliding movement of the ring upon the snath 1 may be accomplished. By sliding the ring until without engagement with the shank 3, it is apparent that the free end of the latter, or the locking tongue 4, may be withdrawn from the opening 6, and the blade 2 removed. The insertion of the locking tongue 4 within another of the openings 6, and the arrangement of the ring 11 and the block 9 in the manner above described, will lock the blade 2 imr'n'ent'i indep'ehdent of 'the" snath that the sumed before adjustment.
From the above, taken 'inconnectionwiththe accompanying drawings, it will. be noted that the openings 6 are formed'by' forcing one. of the plates inyvardly,,1the said tongues se'ryin'g' in the capacity of retaining elements whereby the said-plates are locked against lateral as Well as longitudinalmoveengagement between the Walls of the recess 13 and the shank 3; prevent lateral move; ment of the-latter and that byf' enlarging the securing "ringiizll as at 12, the formation of the recess :13' will-" in'no ay -'-weake'nfthe saidringat-this particular point; i .aII-n reduction lr to l practice, If jhave found that the form of my 'inyention', illustrated i'n thkdrau i'ngs a a referred to "in' theEabO'Ve' description; as the pretferredemboflimentg is the mo'st 'efiicient and practical yet realiz'f ing that the conditions 'cbncur-rent v'vith t h'e adoptibnmf' my: device will i necessarily Wary, I i desire 'to' "emphasize'* the fact that". varidu s minor changes, i11 details -o'ffl construction, proportion f and arrangement 1 of parts may be -resorted to When =required,- wlthout sacri ficing any o' the advantages "of my inven? tion, as defined in the' appende'd 'cl'aimsQj Having thus-" fully:- describedmy 1 inventionpwyhat I claim as new and -'desire tOjse cure by Letters'fPatent, isf g 15 1.
