Another object of the invention resides in the provision of novel reinforcing members having rounded corner portions located in extensions of one edge of the post and a rod engaged through said extensions and the reinforcing members to intersect recesses between said extended portions to retain wire strands in said recesses and in binding engagement with the inner walls of the latter.
For a further object the invention contemplates the provision of a fence post of the above stated character which will be of simple construction. durable and highly efficient in use.
WVith these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring more in detail to the drawings, 1 designates the post proper which is preferably formed of a plastic material and which is of substantially triangular form in cross-section with its forward vertical edge or corner 2 'rounded 'and' prov ided' fwith spaced transverse wire strand receiving recesses 3 having concavedinner walls 4. ln order to prop'erly 'reinforce the post proper- 1, I'provide a pluralityof resilient reinforcing members 6, composed of metallic strips 2 bent into substantiallytriangular form with the ends of these strips slightly spaced apart; "as shown in Figs. 3 and 4:. The metallic strips are preferably bent so that the ends of the same form one side of the triangle while the central portion of the strips form the opposite corner of the triangle, which corner is extended and rounded as shown at 7 The reinforcing members are placed in the mold in such manner that the corners 7 thereof will project into the extensions 5, as shown in Fig. 3 and thereby reinforce and strengthen the same.
After the wire strands of a fence have been placed in the recesses 3, the removable rod 9 is forced downwardly through the extensions 5 and in front of said wire strands 8 to retain the latter in binding engagement with the concaved inner walls 4 of said recesses 3, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, there by preventing longitudinal movement of said strands 8. It will be understood that the rod 9 is of sufficient length to intersect all of the recesses 3 and said rod should be provided with a head 10 which may be produced by bending the upper end of said rod, as shown in Fig. 1.
The advantages of this form of post will be readily apparent and further description of the sameis believed to be unnecessary.
While the form of the invention herein shown and described is what is believed to be the preferred embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim as new is 1. A plastic fence post comprising a post proper of triangular form with one corner rounded and having transverse recesses with concaved inner walls, reinforcing members within. said post proper and having portions extended between said recesses. and a rod passed through the reinforced projecting ing a rounded edge, a plurality of resilient split reinforcing members position in said post proper and bent to substantially conform to the exterior contour of said post proper, said post proper having recesses formed in said rounded edge between said reinforcing members, and a rod extended through said post proper and said reinforcing members, said rod intersecting said recessesand serving to retain wire strands in engagement with the inner walls of said recesses.
3. In a plastic fence post, a body having spaced wire strand receiving recesses therein, the recesses defining extensions therebetween, substantlally trlangular shaped members embedded in the body and having their apices embedded in the extensions, and means extending longitudinally through the extensions and recesses for retaining the wire strands in position.
4. In a plastic fence post, a plastic body having alined notches formed in one face thereof which define extensions therebetween, reinforcing substantially triangular shaped elements embedded in the plastic body, the apices of which extend within the extensions, and a removable wire retaining rod extending longitudinally through the extensions and recesses.
