IMPROVEMENT IN MUSIC-STAND STANDARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,594, dated February 13, 1872; antedated J annary 25, 1872.
I, JAMES THORNTON, of Oswego city, in the county ofOswego, State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Music- Stands, ot which the following is a specilication:
My invention has relation to certain new and .ing freely up and down. On the top of this rod C is a joint to which may be attached arcadingboard or mirror, &;c., as may be required.
The upright standard B iscleft through the center to an extent sufficient to give elasticity to the jaws of saine. A turned ball, D, is tted on the top of the standard B, having an eccentric hole and a corresponding eccentric on the top of standard, so that by a partial revolution of this lball D the eccentric passes the jaws or the upright standard, and thus trips the upright rod() and holds it at any required elevation.

The combination oi' the ball D, having an eccentric cavity and the cleft standard B having an eccentric top with the tube or rod O, all constructed substantially as and for the purpose speciiied.
