IMPROVEMENT IN KNIFE-CLEANERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,238, dated January 30, 1872.
To whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS B. CLARKE, of Wyandotte, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Combined Knife-Clean er and Brick-Scraper; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon and being a part of this specication, in which my invention is si awn in perspective.
The nature of this invention relates to the construction of a device for cleaning knives combined with a scraper for pulverizing Bath brick. The invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the various parts, as more fully hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents a handle, the lower end of which terminates in an enlargement, B, to one side of which is secured the rubber or elastic cushion C. Projecting outwardly from and rigidly secured to the back ot' the enlargement is the metallic blade D, designed for scraping or pulverizing Bath brick.
In using this device, after the Bath brick has been scraped or pulverized, the elastic cushion should be Ydipped first in Water and then in the brick-dust, and then applied with brisk friction to the surface ofthe knife or other article to be cleaned.
It is preferable for knives to have the cushion flat, while for cleaning spoons there may bc convex and concave cushions, as desired.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A combined knife-cleaner and brick-scraper, consisting of the handle A provided with the enlargement B, elastic cushion C, and metallic blade D, constructed and arranged substantially as described and shown. i
