DISPENSING APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Fatenteol May 8, 1917.
Application filed August 10, 1916. Serial No. 114,112.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISAAC KULIOK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dispensing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a dispensing apparatus of novel construction, by means of which cigars, cigarettes or similar articles may be successively released and delivered in a simple and reliable manner.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a vertical cross section of a dispensing apparatus embodying my invention, showing the container closed;
Fig. 2, is a similar section showing the container open;
Fig. 3, a horizontal section, and
Fig. 4, a vertical longitudinal section of the apparatus with the base omitted.
The device comprises essentially, a base 1 from which extend upwardly a pair of posts 2 to constitute a stand. To the posts is rotatably hung, by pivots 3, a drum or container 4, adapted to hold cigars, cigarettes or other articles to be dispensed. As shown, the drum is formed of a tubular shell, which at its ends is set into circular grooves formed in a pair of heads 5. Drum 4 is furnished with a comparatively wide ingress slot controlled by a lid 6, having lmob 7 that carries catch 8, and with a comparatively narrow egress slot 9. Within drum 4, there is mounted a fixed gate 10 having an outer curved side, that is concentric to and snugly engages the inner face of the drum. Gate 10 is carried by a pair of arms 11, lying closely against the inner faces of heads 5, and fitted upon the inwardly protruding ends of pivots 3. Within drum 4 there is further contained a longitudinally extending grooved bar or ejector 12, which is pivoted to heads 5 as at 13, and is connected to gate 10 by rods 14. A platform 15 hinged at 16 within the drum rests with its free end upon ejector 12. A
stop 17, projecting outwardly from one of the heads 5, is adapted to strike the corresponding post 2, so as to thereby limit the rotation of the drum.
Base 1 carries a tray or dish 18 upon which the articles released from the drum will drop.
In use, the cigars 19, charged into drum 4, will by platform 15, be in time carried into the groove of ejector 12. When the drum is now turned slightly forward, ejector 12 will be tilted by arms 14, to turn on pivots 13, and thus dump the cigar out through slot 9, which has meanwhile, been opened owing to the travel of said slot beyond gate 10 (Fig. 2). When the drum is released, it will be returned to its normal position by a spring 20, by which return motion, the ejector is again righted and slot 9 closed.
I claim:
1. A dispensing apparatus comprising a stand, a slotted container pivoted thereto, a fixed gate mounted within the container, a pivoted ejector extending longitudinally through the container, and means for operatively connecting said ejector to said gate.
2. A dispensing apparatus comprising a stand, a slotted drum having heads, pivots connecting the drum with the stand, a fixed gate within the drum, arms that connect the gate to the pivots, a grooved ejecting member extending longitudinally through the drum, pivots that connect said member to the drum heads, and rods that connect said member to the fixed gate.
ISAAC KULICK.
