INVENTOR JAMES CLAYTON ATTORNEYS determined said rod being provided with a knob 8a for convenience of manipulation and being fiX- able in position by a set-screw 9. The arm which carries the errule, or sleeve 3, to be fixed to the funnel, or thread-guide, is marked 10, and is shown as being made in two parts` connected together by a hinge pin 10a, and formed with an opening to receive and fit the said ferrule, or sleeve, one portion of which opening is in the fixed part of the arm, the other portion of the said opening being in them part of the arm which can be turned upon the hinge-pin 10a.
When the funnel, or thread-guide, and ferrule, or sleeve, are in placel the movable art of the arm 10, is turned lagainst the 'Xed part and the two parts are secured together by a screw, or clip. ln the drawing a wire clip 11, is shown for this purpose.
When the parts are thus secured pitch, or other suitable substance, is introduced to the space between the inside of the ferrule, or sleeve, 3, and -the outside of the tubular part of the funnel, or thread-guide, .as shown at 12, a rubber-band, or some material such as putty, foreXample, being applied to the lower part of the space to retain the pitch till it is set.
Whatvl claim is- 1 1. A thread guide for use in machines for the manufacture of artiicial silk, said guide comprising a tubular member and a supporting ferrule mounted thereon at a predistance from its lower end.
2. ln a machine for the manufacture of artilicial silk, a plurality of thread guides comprising tubular members, and a support-y ing ferrule mounted on each at a -predetermined, uniform distance from the lower ends of said guides. l f
8. A thread guide for use in machines for the manufacture of artificial silk, said guide comprising a tubular member and a supporting ferrule mounted thereon at a predetermined distance from its lower end and having its axis precisely alined with that of the tubular guide.
4. A thread guide for use in machines for the manufacture of artificial silk, said guide comprising a tubular member and a supporting ferrule mounted thereon at a predetermined distance from its lower end and having an outstanding supporting flange.
5. A. thread guide for use in machines for the manufacture. of artificial silk, said guide comprising a tubular member and a supporting ferrule mounted thereon at a predetermined distance from its lower end and having an outstanding supporting flange at its upper end.
ln testimony whereof l have signed my naine to this specification in the presence 0f 1 two subscribing witnesses.
