H. ANDERSCH & J. A. RAUSCH.
MOP CLAMP. APPLICATION FILED JULY 25,1916.
- Patented Apr. 24, 1917.
UNITED. STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY ANDERSCH AND JOHN A. BAUSCH, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
MOP-CLAMP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 24, 1917.
Application filed July 26, 1916. Serial No. 111,495.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY ANoERsc-H and J OI-IN A. RAUSCH, citizens of the United States, and residents of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mop-Clamps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in a mop clamp, and has for its object a stationary member attached to a mop handle and a detachable clamping member arranged to be seated between the material forming the mop and the stationary member, and means for clamping the two members together firmly holding the mop material in position.
Figure 1, is aperspective view of our complete invention.
Fig. 2, is a central sectional View of the same showing the general arrangement and application of both. parts constituting the clamp.
Fig. 3, is a cross-sectional view of the same taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4, is a detail side elevation of a por-,
tion of the end of the clamp with parts broken away and in section.
Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of a portion of the clamping member.
In carrying out our invention we provide a mop clamp consisting of a stationary member and a detachable clamping member, the
stationary member consists of a socket 6 in which the mop handle is inserted and rigidly held therein in any desirable manner. At the bottom of the socket is attached a horizontal bar 7'which in cross section is provided with an elongated V-shaped recess 8, the ends 9 and 10 of the bar projecting downwardly as that shown and provided with a dove-tailed recess 11 which acts as a guide and support for the dove-tailed proj ections 12 formed on the ends of the detachable clamping member 13.
The upper or contacting surface of the detachable or clamping member 13 is provided with an elongated angular projection 14; which corresponds with the elongated angular recess 8 formed in the bar 7, and between these two surfaces is placed the mop material and firmly clamped therein by means of the thumb nuts 15 adjusted over the screws 16 formed on a projection called the detachable or clamping member.
The essential feature of our invention is to construct a mop clamp of two horizontal members comprising a stationary and a detachable member so arranged that one will seat within the other and form a proper binding surface so that the mop material may be firmly held in between the same and dispense with projecting surfaces which may contact with the floor when the mop is brought in contact therewith.
,We may if we desire change the position of the screws and that is by placing the screws in the rigid bar and allowing the screws to project downwardly and then place over the screws the adjustable clamping member;
when so constructing the device the nut by which both members are bound together will be beneath the detachable member and covered by the mop'material which hangs over this member after the same has been properly clamped in position.
Having fully described our invention what we claim is:
A device .of the class described comprising an elongated horizontal body, a socket formed integral with .the upper surface thereof, a projection formed integral wlth the under surface and at each end of the horizontal member and provided with a wedge shaped cavity, a V-shaped groove formed in the under side of the horizontal body and extending the entire distance between the projections, a detachable member having its upper surface shaped to fit within ALFRED A. Eroks, WALTER C. STEIN.
