Description

s -F.;AZZlM. PAPER m nim KIT.
APPLICATION FILED DEC.8. I915 1,223,161 Patented Apr. 17,1917.
' mam/Eran HHHHHIHH WITNESSES UNITED SANTE FAZZINI, OF NEW YORK, N Y.
PAPER-HANGERS KIT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Pat nted Am". 17, 1 917;
Application filed December 8, 1916. Serial No. 135,761.
7 2; all whom it may moment:
7 lie it known that I. hwt'rn FAZZIN], a subjert of the King of Italy. and a resident of the rity of New York. horough of Manhattall. in the county and State of New York,
haw invented a new and Improved 'laperllangzvrs Kit. of which the following is a lull; clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to kits or traveling cases for paper hangers or other workmen.
ln|l having; rvl'eri-nre especially to paper ing an ordinary suit ease in size and appeararu-m hnttlle kit is so vonslruetwl that when j or annoyance due to the fact that papeli hangers devices as ()ll'lllltll'll) used and can it is opened out it will provide a complete cutting and paste-applying tahlo.
A'nothl-r olijert of the invention is to provide a kit for paper hangers whvrelrv they are enabled to carry with them all of their appliances without hein; subjected to delay rierl are too cuinhersome and unsightly to he admitted tostreet railway cars or other puhlic eonvoyanoes.
\Vith the foregoing and other, ohjccts in view the invention consists in the arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter deserihed and claimed, and while the im'ern 'tion is not restricted tothe. exact details of mnstruetion disclosed or suggested herein, Still for the'pnrposo'of lllllhtlfllilllfl' a practical embodiment thereof referenciis had to the :u'companying drawings in which like reference (harm-tors designate the same parts in the several views, and in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my appafatus open for use asa. table, all of the parts heingin place except the straight edge which is left-aside tolmtter disclose the ron-' struction ofthe case or kit;
Fig. 2 is a'hottoln plan View of the main portion of the kit, the kit being open and showing'the ftools in carrying position therein and alsothe legs in their closed position;

Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional detail on the line -l-t 0. Fig.- 3, showing the manner of locking the legs in carrying P0 sition; Fig, 5 is an end iiew of the table partly broken a way to show the manner of securing the legs in sn 'ip'orting position; and I I f Fig, 6 is an and view in detail indicating the manner of securing the straight edge to'the table. Referring now mire particnlarly to the drawings. I show a 'titcomprising two substantially similar pa ts '10 and 11 hinged to-'- gethcr and to and at 12, sons to simulate a suit case when closul. I indicate at 13, a sliding holt carried by one of the sections of the kit and movah le into engagement with the other to tempoiaril'y hold the sections?! open or in extended position. Within each of the sections and adjacent'to the end lf mote from the hing: line, I provide. a pair a of blocks 14 and 15 of a depth equal to the open space within such sections. The'fic 5 him-ks serve several important functions,
First they constituie socket-pieces for the H sections 10 and 11.
' The four legs 19 we carried two in each" section. The legs being slightly ion" or than the length of the int n'ior of the sections, the ends of the legs are extended into sockets 20, p
as indicated 'iirl ip. 4, whilcthe opposite Q end portions of the egs fit into the cutaway i ll? of the block-15 -aarrie'd by each section;

The lower ends of the pins project into the bottom panels 21 of the kit. These pins, together with the'coiiperation between the opposite endsof the legs and the sockets 20, positively hold the legs tion, giving s E r a I a paper hangers user .l he flaps 20 me from falling out of place in transportation.
A suit case. being ordinaril of a size providing too narrow a table or practical purposes, I employ a flap 26 for the outside of each section, the same being hinged at 27 along line just below the upper. portion of such section. These flaps 26 are made preferably of thin sheet metal and hence the oifset incident to hinging them upon the outer panels of the kit is practically negligible. The width of the panels is such that their outer or free edges drop adjacent to the edges of the panels 21 in transportation and hence overlap the outer faces of the legs. \Vhen opened out, however, the flaps 26 extend in practice a foot or so beyond that portion of the kit which is the top thereof when in carrying posiai'nple -\\idth to the table for ported in extended p- ;ition by iiieans'of a pair of V-sliaped 'yo es 28, each made of spring material and having the form indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2, the ends of each yoke being fitted into socket pieces 29 adjacent-to the handles 30. 'lliese'yokcs are shown inv collapsed or nested position in full lines in Fig. 2 carried along with other tools within. the kit.
The only lengthyappliances carried by the paper hanger in connection with this kit are the straight edge 3.1 and a cutting plate 32, each halving a length-equal to the extended length of the kit. These parts, however, being comparatively small and light "table top at Fig. 1 and as shown complete in Figs. 5
are not difficult to manage along with the kit. The plate 32 may be fitted upon the the open space indicated ,in
sup-
is being trimmed or cut on the plate.
I claim:
1. In a paper hangers kit, the combination of a pair of similar sections hin ed together end to end, reinforcing. and sti ening means for said sections comprising a set ofblocks secured of the blocks having a threaded socket, a set of legs carried within the kit when collapsed, each leg having a threaded end adapted to cooperate with the socket in one of the blocks, one block of each section being cut away from one side to receive certain of the legs in carrying position, and a member passing through the cutaway block to lock the legs therein.
The herein described paper hangers kit comprising a pair of box-like sections hinged together end to end, portions of the sections being cut away along one outer edge, supporting legs for the device when to lock the sections extended with their outer faces upward in horizontal position, said outer faces being cut away alongone edge, a set of supporting legs for the table 'top carriednormally in transportation in said cutaways, and a cutting to fill said as a table.
