BAG-HOLDER.
Application filed September 16, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEWIS D. BURTGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at the town of Baraboo, in the county of Sauk, State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to improvements in bag holders, and has for its object to so construct a device of this character that bags may be easily and quickly suspended with their mouths open so that same may be conveniently filled.
A further object of the invention is to so construct a device of this character that a truck may be rolled under the suspended bags, thus obviating the necessity of lifting the bags when filled, from the holder;
A still further object of the invention is to provide a holder so constructed that bags with mouths of different sizes may be suspended on the same holder.
WVith these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more 7 fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken centrally through the structure as illustrated in Fig. 1. v
Fig. 4 is a vertical section taken centrally through the structure as illustrated in Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of one of the bag engaging hooks.
Fig. 6 is a similar view of'one of the holding bars.
The device consists of frames 1 and 2, the
former comprising a horizontal bar 3 haV- ing fixed thereto suitably braced legs 1, while the frame 2 consists of a horizontal bar 5, and a single leg 6.
Spaced shafts 7 are provided and have their ends suitably supported in the bars Specification of Letters Patent.

and are pivotally connected by links 13, said links serving to simultaneously swing the bars 9 1n opposite directions upon the movement of the lever 14, which is a continuation of one of the ears 8.
By supporting the shafts 7 in the bars 3 and 5 of the respective frames, the bags when suspended will be spaced sufficiently from the ground to permit a truck to be {)OllQCl thereunder for receiving the filled From the foregoing description it will be seen that bags having the conventional size mouths will engage the hooks 12, while bags with larger mouths will engage the fingers 12, and upon the operator grasping the lever 141 the bars may be swung either to cause the hooks to firmly engage the bags, or to disengage the same as the occasion may require.
What is claimed is A bag holder comprising spaced frames, shafts supported by the frames and arranged in spaced parallel relation, bars having ears pivotally connected to the shafts, one of said ears terminating in a hand lever, links pivotally connecting the ears to swing the bars in opposite directions when the lever is shifted, devices fixed to the bars, said devices having hooks formed upon one of their ends and fingers upon their other end, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in the presence of two Witnesses.
