UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH OROOK, OF LUDLOW, VERMONT.
IMPROVEMENT m AUTOMATIC oluzs FoR Looms.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,159, dated December 26, 1871.
Specification describing a certain Improvement in Automatic Oiler for Looms, invented by J 0- SEPH OROOK, of Ludlow, in the county of Windsor and State of Vermont.
Figure 1 is a detail vertical section of my im-- proved oiler taken through the line as as, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved automatic oiler for looms which shall A is the cup, can, or reservoir for the oil, which may be made in the form of an ordinary oiler, or of any other desired form, and which is provided with a cap, a B are tubes, one or more of which may be used, and the lower ends of which lead into the lower part of the can A. The tubes B incline outward and upward, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and in them are, placed wicks G, the inner ends of which enter the cup A, and the outer ends of which project from the outer ends of the said tubes B to conduct the oil by capillary attraction from the cup A to the thing to be oiled.
The oiler may be hung from the frame-work of the loom by having a properly-shaped lug, as a,
the lever that works the catches that work the boxes, thus oiling three places, so that a two-tube oiler keeps eight parts of the loom constantly oiled.
A single-tube oiler may be arranged to oil the spindle upon which the picker works.
By this means all the principal parts of the loom are kept constantly oiled, so that they can'- not be injured by the neglect of the weaver to oil them, and at a very great saving of oil.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an article of manufacture, a loom oiler formed of oil-reservoir A a shank a, and two upwardly-inclined wick-tubes B B set at an angle of about one hundred and twenty degrees, and thus adapted to oil eight parts of the loom,
in the manner described.
