IMPROVEMENT IN CHHVINEY-CAPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,022, dated December 19, 1871.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANsoN B. JOHNSON-of Washington, in the county ot' Davis and State of Indiana, have invented cert-ain Improvements in Ghimney-Gaps, of which the following is a specication Figure 1 is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section.
This invention relates to a rectangular metal frame placed ou the overh an ging course of bricks near the top of a chimney, during the building ofthe saine, and inclosing the remaining courses, which are laid within said frame ush with its top, in combination with a plate placed on the top of the said frame and chimney.
Referring to the drawing, ay is the frame aforesaid, the same being provided with legs b at its four corners, which legs stand on the overhanging course c. The courses d e are laid inside the frame a, and their bricks are thereby prevented from separating at the joints or falling off. The flat top plate f has a molding, 9,011 its under side together again on the chimney. To the upper side ot' the plate j' a-n ornamental railing, g', may be attached.
I claim as my invention- The frame a, standing on the overha-nging course c and inclosiug the top courses, in coinbination with the plate f superimposed upon the chimney-top and provided with a molding, g, that incloses the frame, all arranged as speciiied.
