Be it known that I, Join; D. PARKER, a

/ citizen of the United States, residing at Lagrange, in the county of Fayette and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bedstead Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to bedstead attach- I ments and more particularly to an attach.- ment designed to be employed for the purpose of holding the bed clothingagainst disarrangement or pulling up from the foot of the bed and it is one aim of the invention to provide a device of this class so. constructed that it may be applied to any ordinary ironbedstead and may be adjusted to secure the bed clothing at any desired distance from the foot of the bed.

Another aim of the invention is to so construct the device that it may be readily and quickly adapted for use as a support for a canopy of mosquito netting.

1 is designed to be disposed against the vertical;wing of the side rail of the bedstead, which rail .is ofxtheordinary angle iron construction and is indicated by the reference character R, and the head 2 is designed to extend above the horizontal wing of the said side rail R, the lug 3 extending below the lower edge of the vertical wing and the lip 4 projecting up beside the inner face of the said wing, all as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. A clamping screw 5 is threaded through the head 2 and may a be adjusted to bear downwardly upon the horizontal wing of'the rail of the bedstead and when the set screw is so adjusted the bracket member will be bodily liftedv so as to cause. its lug 3 to bind firmly against the lower edge of the vertical wing of the said a rail. Inasmuch as the lip 4 of the lug Sengages and projects upwardly beside the inner face of the said vertical wing, outward movement of the lower end of the bracket will be prevented as well as any tilting movement which would tend to displace its upper end or head 2 with relation to the said rail. The body 1 of each bracket member is further provided upon-its ,outer' face with a boss 6 having an opening, 7 formed therein and having a set screw 8 threaded throughone side thereof and adjustable to engage at its inner end against a frame member fitted within the said opening 7. The arch member heretofore referred to as employed in connection with the bracket members comprises a cross bar or connecting portion 9 and side members 10 and this arch member may be of the form shown in Figs.v 1, 2 and '3 of the drawings or of the form shown in Fig. 5.' In the first mentioned figures it is illustrated as formed from a single length of rod material bent at suitably spaced points to form the said cross bar or connect ing portion 9 and thesaidsides 10, and as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, the sides 10 are fitted into the openings 7 in the bosses '6 of the bracket members and may be vertically adjusted therein.

When the device is to be. employed for the purpose of securing the bed clothes against disarrangement in themanner illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, the arch member is pressed downwardly so that its connecting portion or cross bar 9 will bear firmly upon the bed clothing. and press'the same firmly to the top of the mattress. The set screws 8 are then tightened so as to hold the arch member in its adjusted position, it being understood, of course that the bracket members have previously been applied to ,the side rails of the bedstead at points suitably spaced from the foot end of the bed.
