Description
C. J. OLNEY.
CARRIER FOR BRACELET WATCHES.
APPLICATION FILED ocT. 28. I9Is.
15,215,054. Patented Feb. 6,1917.
WITNESS TNTTED STATES PATENT @FETCH CHARLES J. OLNEY, OF WALTHAIVI, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO WALTI-IAM WATCH COMPANY, OF WALTHAM, MASSACHUSETTS, A CORPORATION OF MASSACHUSETTS.
CARRIER FOR BRACELET-WATCHES.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Teb. 6, 1917.
4To all whom it may concern: c
Be it known that I, CHARLES J. OLNEY, a citizen of the United States, and residing in the city of Waltham, county of Middlesex, in the State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Carriers for Bracelet-VVatches, of which the following is a speciiication, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof.
rThe object of this invention is to provide a neat and attractive case or carrier for a wrist-watch and its accompanying eXpansion bracelet, which shall protect the watch from injury, shall support the watch and bracelet with the links of the latter in proper relation, and shall permit the ready removal and replacement of the watch. The invention will be more fully explained hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawing in which it is illustrated and in which,-
Figure 1 is a view of the case or carrier laid open, with the watch and bracelet in position thereon.
. Fig. 2 is a view, in section, on the plane indicated by the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, with the watch and bracelet removed.
Fig. 3 is a view of the case or carrier partly closed, the end flaps and one of the side flaps being turned in.
Fig. t is a view of the case or carrier completely closed.
The case or carrier may be formed mainly of leather or other suitable material. It comprises the following parts:
A body part a which forms a back a', which may be stiiened by a stiii'ener a2, and side flaps a3 and at, which may be provided with 'fastening devices a5 of usual character; end flaps b and having a width substantially the same as the back a and hinged to the ends of the back ca; and a stiened supporting' member 0, preferably cushioned, which also has substantially the same width as the back a', is hinged to the back along one side, as at o', and is preferably notched at its ends, as at c2. It will be understoodthat the hinges referred to are ieXible portions of the material employed and that the carrier may be made up,
as is usual in leather articles of a similar character, with linings of di'erent material, notnecessary to be specifically or separately shown in the drawing.
In the application of the watch and bracelet to the carrier, it is unnecessary to detach the watch from the bracelet, but both together are made to encircle lengthwise the supporting member o, with the bracelet lying in the notches o2 and the watch lying iiat upon the cushioned supporting member C which is hinged to the back in order that the watch and bracelet may be thus applied. The supporting member is then turned down upon the back, the end flaps are turned in to cover and protect the watch and the bracelet, and the side flaps are turned in, one upon the other, and fastened. The carrier affords a convenient means for attractive display of the watch and bracelet by the dealer, for delivery to the customer, and for the carrying of the watch and bracelet when they are not to be worn.
I claim as my invention:
l. A carrier for a watch and bracelet comprising a back member, a supporting member hinged along one side to the back member and adapted to be encircled lengthwise by the watch and bracelet, end flaps hinged to the back member t0 cover the watch and bracelet, and means to secure the end flaps inposition.
2. A carrier for a watch and bracelet comprising a back member, a supporting member hinged along one side to the back member and adapted to be encircled lengthwise by the watch and bracelet, and side flaps hinged to the back member to cover the watch and bracelet.
3. A carrier for a watch and bracelet comprising a baclrmember, a supporting member hinged along one side to the back member and adapted to be encircled lengthwise by the watch and bracelet, and side flaps hinged to the back member to cover the watch and bracelet, the side flaps being provided with fastening devices.
t. A carrier for a watch and bracelet comprising a back member, a supporting` member hinged along one side to the back member and adapted to be encircled length- VWise by the Watch and bracelet, end flaps hinged to the back member to cover the Watch and bracelet, and Side flaps hinged to the back member to cover the end flaps.
5. A carrier for a Watch and bracelet comprising a back member, a supporting member hinged along one side to the back member and adapted to be encircled length- Wise by the Watch and bracelet, end flaps hinged to the back member to Cover the 10 Watch and bracelet, and side flaps hinged to the back member to cover the end flaps, and fastening devices carried by the side flaps.
This specification signed this 25th day of l5 October A. D. 1916.
