. M. SUDEROV WRIST WATCH Filed May 6, 1921 IN VEN TOR 4 TTOR E76 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MAX M. SUDEROV, OF NEW YORK, N. Y-.
WRIST WATCH.
Application filed May 6,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX M. SUDEnov, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York city, New York county, New York, have invented a new and useful Wrist Watch, of which thefollowing is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved wrist watch case, the object being to provide a case that will render accessible both sides of the watch works proper, that is to say, either the dial side or the rear side. Heretofore, such cases have ordinarily been made in only two parts, and to repair the works has necessitated the entire removal of the same from the case. These and other advantages will be apparent to the mechanic skilled in the art, among them being great compactness, the ready adaptability and use of a rectangu- Jlar or elongated crystal, etc.
In the drawings,
Figure 1 is a perspective view, relatively enlarged, of the case with the several parts opened up.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section.
Fig. 3 is a cross section.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of part of the frame relatively enlarged.
1 represents the main frame having therein a central opening of a size proper to receive the watch works (not shown.) This frame is elongated and hollow at its two ends. At the intermediate portion, it is exceedingly thin, and along the outer opposite side edges, I provide a central re-enforcing rib 2, which tends to brace and greatly stiffen the central part as may plainly be seen. This rib or bead 2 also acts as a stop for the two covers to prevent the same from overlapping, and to give a proper snap. At one end of the frame, I provide two hinges indicated at 3-4. To these hinges respectively I hinge the back 5 and the front 6, the latter being provided with a suitable elongated opening 7 for the crystal. At the opposite end, I provide two snap shoulders 8-9. The edge of the cover 5 at its free end is shaped to snap over the holding shoulder 8 while the free end of the cover 6 is correspondingly formed to snap over the holding shoulder 9. As each holding shoulder may be made straight, it is obvious that the expense of fitting is substantially reduced. It is like- 1921. Serial No. 467,472.
wise an easy matter to tighten the after long usage and wear, so the covers will remain tightly closed. At each end of the main body 1., 1'. provide a suitable means for securing the watch in n 1 such as a strap receivir 1 loop, one of which is indicated at 10 and the other at 11. The sides of both covers are flanged inwardly and shaped to snugly embrace the adjacent sides of the main frame, said flanges stiffening said cover so that the will not buckle even though held at their ends only.
That I claim is:
1. A wrist watch frame or case, comprising an elongated main body having a central opening for a watch case, the ends of said body being hollow, a combined reenforcing and spacing bead along the outer edge of the opposite sides of the frame, two covers hinged on opposite sides of the frame at one end and conformed thereto adapted to close thereon against the bead, and snap shoulders formed 0 i the end of said main frame from. said and ranged to co-act with the ends of the covers to hold the latter closed.
2. A wrist watch frame or case, contiprising an elongated main body having a cen tral opening for a watch case, the ends of said body being hollow, a combined. re-enforcing and spacing bead along the outer edge of the opposite sides of he frame, two covers hinged on opposite sides of the frame at one end and conformed thereto and adapted to close thereon against the bead, and snap shoulders formed. on the opposite end of said main frame om said hinges and arranged to co-act the adjacent ends of the covers to hold the latter closed, and a loop at each end of said mai 3. A watch case com f main frame havin ing of a size to rec i said frame being elongated and l? ow at its opposite ends having a central outer reenforcing rib its sides extended loops at its ends and covers hinged to said main frame one end and overla sing the sides of said fram and substantially flush with the outer edge of said rib, said rib serving as a stop for said covers, one of said covers being provided with elongated means for securing a crystal in place.
