The lprimary object of this invention and improved` construction for imparting vibratory lmovement from a spring motor.. While the mechanism is designed prima-` rily for rocking a cradle, atmay-be variously employed for controlling the escapement of the power spring of a spring motor.
In the accompanying'drawings, Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of spring motor mechanism embodyingthe invention. Fig. 2-is a crossI sectional elevation of the mechanism, taken on line 2'-22of Fig. 3, and Fig. 3 is asectiontaken4 on Iline 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a sectional plantaken on line 4-4 oflFig.- 2. v

Where independently rotatable core sections are employed as here shown they may be mounted on and held in operati-ve relation to each other by the rod or shaft 7. The
central core sections are embracedby the elongated coiled spring 8, one end of which is anchored to leg or support'j6, and the opposite end is secured to the end core sections 4.
' Secured to core section 4 is ratchet wheel 9, and secured to and extending outwardly from this wheel is short shaft 10. This shaft is rotatably mounted in casing head v11, and the projecting portion thereof is squared at 10 to receive a winding crank. Thebearing for shaft 10 comprises a hub 12 which projects from the inner side of head 11.

Operatlon: Upon imparting Vmotion to the cradle or other body connected to the escape-` ment mechanism, support 14 is caused' to vibrate, and movement to the right from the position shownin Fig. 4 2 causes spring 20 to move dog 18 out of engagement' with the ratchet wheel, this movement resulting from the fact that the inner; end of spring 20 is immovably heldlat 16 while dog 18 is moving with support 14. This same movement of support 14 flexes spring 19 in such manner as to throw dog 16' into, engagement with Wheel 9, thismovement resulting from the fact that the inner end of spring `19 moves with support y14, thereby causing dog 17 to pivot` in the manner described. On the-'backward oscillation of support 14, z'. e., from right to left, the above described operation is reversed, at'such timethe action of spring 20 causing dog 18 to engage the ratchet wheel, while force isso applied to .spring 19 as to causeit to disengage dog '17.
Uponstopping the oscillation ofthe cradle or other body, Vthe escapement'mecha-l nism is brought toY a` standstill, and' the dog then in engagement with-the ratchetwheei will hold the motor stationary until motionv is again imparted to thecradle or other body.
