H. E GREGG.
BELT sum LOOP.
APPLICATION HLED JAN. \4, 1916.
Patented Dec. 12,1916.
hill
citizen of the United ing a plurality HERMIT E. GREGG, Ol PORTLAND, OREGON.
BELT SLIDE-LOOR Application filed January 14,-, 1916.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HERMIT E. GREGG, a States, residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt Slide- Loops; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The primary object of this invention is to improve the construction of belt slide loops by providing a detachable loop that will admit of the belt having free sliding movement therethrough and can be detached from the trousers or attached expeditiously.
Another object of the invention is to provide a loop for carrying out the above ohjects, that can be manufactured cheaply and will be durable and efficient in operation.
Uther'objects will appear and be better understood from vention of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing which: a
Figure his a detail perspective viewot the waist band of a pair-of trousers, and show of loops constructed in. accordance with my. invention, applied thereto, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view, taken through one of the loops, Fig, 3 is a horizontal section, taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2, Fig. 4 is a perspective loops detached from the trouser band.
Referring to the drawing more in detail,
the letter A designates the upper portion of a pair of trousers, having the usual waistband B. The slide or loop which is designated as an entirety by the numeral 1, is formed of an elongated strip of leather, one end 3 of which is l vertically disposed loop portion 4, the other end of the strip being extended beneath the lower or free terminal of the firstmentioned end 3 and upwardly and parallel with the first-mentioned end, as shown at 5. The longitudinal edges of the adjacent ends of the-strip 2 are secured together by stitching, so as to provide the pocket 6.
A vertically disposed metallic strip 7 is ositioned within the pocket 6 and has its ower end extended beneath the lower or free terminal of the end 3 of the strip 2, and then bent upwardly and extending into the loop t,
Specification of Letters Patent.
as shown at 8.
and is secured to that embodiment of my in forming a part thereof, in
view of one of the bent upon itself to provide Patented Dec. 112, iljlti. Serial No. 72,095.
The loop 4: is adapted to receive the belt (5, and the extended and bent end 8 of the metallic strip 7 serves to space the vertical walls of the loop 4, so as to ad mit of the belt having free sliding movement through the loop.
Extending into the pocket 6 is one end of an attaching member 9, which is formed, preferably of leather, and the said end of the attaching member is positioned between the metallic strip 7 and the end 5 of the strip 2, the said end 5 preferably by means of stitching. 4
A. horizontally disposed and headed stud 10, has its shank extending through the end 5 oft-the strip 2, and is adapted to be removably received by an opening 11 formed in the Waistband B of the "trousers. The inner end of theshank 10 carries a plate 12, which is arranged in engagement with the adjacent side of the metallic strip or slide is positioned on. the Waistband of the trousers, and the headed stud 10 inserted through the opening 11 in the waistband, as shown more clearly in Fig. 2 of the drawing, the free end oi the attaching member 9 is then folded over the upper edge of the waistband and positioned in rear of the waistband B, and the said free end of the attaching member is provided with a socket 13, adapted to detachably receive the head on the stud 10, so as to llOltlllllQ slide in position on the waistband B of the trousers.
Having thus described'the invention what is claimed as new, is:
1. Abelt slide consisting of an elongated and flexible strip of material having one end bent upon itself to provide a belt-receiving loop and having its other end extended across the free terminals of the first-mew tioned. end and having its longitudinal edges mentioned end so as to provide a pocket, a metallic strip positioned within the pocket and having one end thereof bent and extend 7. When the loop secured to the longitudinal edges of the firstlldtl ing across the free terminal of the first-mentioned end of the flexible strip, and then bent into parallelism with the metallic strip, and extended into the loop, for the purpose specine 2. A belt slide consisting of an elongated flexible strip of material bent upon itself to provide a "loop and a pocket, located in rear of the loop; one wall of the pocket havin, an opening therein; tinned within the pocketgan attaching mema metallic strip posl itlti no i opening in berhaving one end extending into the pocket and'positioned between the metallic strip and having connection wlth the n etaHie strip; a
W head formed on the outer end'of the strip;
and a socket carried by the free end of the attaching member and adapted to reinovably receive the head on the stud, for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature 15 in presence of tWo Witnesses.
