'1 b all whom it may concern Be it known that I. Lentil-:1. E. VAX Tnmzsin'a citizen of the l nited States, residing at Letts, in the county of Decatur and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pneumatic llorse- Collars, of which the 't'ollowing is a specification.

The presentinvention relates to horse col.- lars, and more particularly to pneumatic horse collars.

The primary object of the invention'is the provision of a device of the above stated character, which is simple in eonstructimi, durable in use, and may be manufactured at comparatively low cost, and wherein the pads of the collar by being inflated, will serve in protecting the shoulders of the animalfrom injury when the collar is subject-. ed to undue strains.

A further object of the invention is the provision of side members forming the collar, and each provided with. flanges adapted to clench the beaded side edges of the collar pads and thereby retain the latter upon the side sections of the collar, and a covering for the pads is also provided to prevent the loss of the pads from the collar sections, and turther present the collar with a n at and finished appearance at all times.

lVith the above and other objects in view, the. invention consists in the. novel features, details of construction, and combination of parts which will hereinafter bev more. fully set forth, illustrated in the. am-ompanying drawing, and pointed out in the appended claims.

l l'Oln the foregoing: description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the advantages of construction, and of the method of operation will be readily apparconnected together at their upper ends, each of said side sections being formed with clamping flanges, one of said clamping flanges being provided with a perforated projection, a cushioning pad fastened on each of said side sections through the medium of said flanges, a covering for said cushioning pad fixed at one end to the other of said clamping flanges and provided with a series of eyelets in the free edge thereof, and means passing through the openings of said projections and through the eyelets of the covering for fastening the latter over the pads and to the said projection.

2. In a horse collar, hingedly connected side sections, each formed with inturned clamping flanges, one of said flanges being formed with a projection having a series of openings, a split casing formed with thickened grooved edges, the grooves of the casing receiving the inturned clamping flanges of said side sections for clamping the casing thereon, a tubing in said casing, a covering for said casing fastened at one end to one of said inturned flanges and detachably connected With the projection of the other of said inturned flanges, and means for fastening the lower ends of the fastening members together.
