STORM-XVINDOW HOLDER.
menses.
Application filed April 8, 1916.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, ERIK P. EKM'AN, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVausa, in the county of Knox and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Storm-lVindow Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in storm window holders and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device for securing a storm window in place.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device which may be used equally as well for supporting screen frames and the like.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a fastener which is attached to the inside of the frame and is protected from the elements so that the possibility of water entering the screw holes by which the fastener is attached to the frame and rotting the material is eliminated.
A further and more specific object of the invention is to provide a. device which will permit the sash to be adjusted for ventila? tion and also hold the sash against rattling.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a device which will enable the user to place the sash in position in the window from the inside without the necessity of manipulating any of the fasteners from the exterior.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawing, in which the drawing illustrates a portion of a window frame showing this improved sash fastener as would appear when in use.
Referring to the drawings 1 designates the window frame or casing in which the usual sashes are slidably mounted while the numeral 2 designates the frame of the storm window or sash. Secured to the window Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 89,806.
frame 1 and having its head positioned outwardly from the inner face thereof for a short distance is the screw 3 the use of which will appear as the description pro ceeds.
The securer consists of the handle at provided at opposite ends with suitable loops which are secured to the window frame 2 by the screws 5 and one of the loops is provided with an arm 6 which projects downwardly and is formed at its lower terminal with the spring loop 7. T he arm 6 forms a supporting arm for the device and the end of the loop 7 opposite the one formed on the arm 6 is extended as at S to form a securing arm having the hooked end 9 for engagement over the screw 3. The end 9 is bent back upon itself as at 10 and again bent to form the finger hold 11 which extends in a plane at ri ht angles to the bend 10 as clearly illustrated in the drawing.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that in use two of these securers are at tached near the upper end of the storm sash frame and the screws 3 are secured in the frame 1 of the window. In positioning the device in place the spring attaching arm 8 is drawn inwardly toward the inside of the house and moved so that the hook 9 engages over the screw 3 and when in this position it will be seen that the upper end of the storm sash will be drawn firmly against the window frame and secured tightly in place. The lower end of the window frame may be provided with any suitable adjusting means which will permit the same to be swung outwardly and it will thus be seen that the resilience of the spring member 7 will permit the storm window frame to be swung outwardly for ventilating purposes.
lVhile in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, itis to be understood that such changes may-be made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is In a device of the class described, a handle, a supporting arm on the handle, a
